Sometimes you get someone in - and never hear of them again. Happened to Clarke and Vaagen Moen among others. What's happened to Jason Puncheon? Not even on the bench lately. Is Jamie Mackie already doing better than JP on the training ground. Ominous?
I believe we will see a lot more money spent in Jan then we will see if NW cuts it as a top flight manager He will be bringing new players JP was never good enough Mackie could become superstar and next Scotland centre forward NW in a year times will be signing 10 m players and we will have a draft 50k seater ... And about 22k new fans
IN RESERVE: R'S BEAT HORNETS Posted on: Wed 28 Sep 2011 QPR Reserves beat a Watford XI this afternoon in a behind-closed-doors friendly fixture at Harlington. Four first-half goals from the R's secured a convincing win, in front of the observing eyes of senior management duo Neil Warnock and Mick Jones. Bradley Orr got the ball rolling after just seven minutes, when the defender latched on to the end of a Jason Puncheon through ball and applied a cool finish from close range. Petter Vaagan Moen doubled the R's lead on 26 minutes. Puncheon's cleared cross fell to the midfielder, who needed just one touch before unleashing a thunderbolt from 20 yards. With the momentum now with the home side, it wasn't long before Rangers added another to the scoreline. Puncheon, again the provider, set-up Hogan Ephraim, who slotted the ball home with a first-time right-footed shot across the goalkeeper. The result was complete just five minutes before half-time. Man of the moment, Puncheon, created space for himself in the middle of the park, before playing in Gary Borrowdale, whose first-time drive put the match to bed. Second-year scholar Sean Murray pulled a consolation back for the visitors midway through the second half, after his perfectly executed free-kick proved too much for Radek Cerny to handle. QPR Reserves: Cerny, Orr, Borrowdale, Parmenter, Peroni, Champion, Ephraim, Vaagan Moen, Andrade, Hewitt, Puncheon. iReader
Thanks for the update North. Shows he can very very influencial in the first half of a reserve game at least... Whether that will that get him a place on the bench at some stage, we'll have to wait and see. Otherwise it looks like this last minute deadline day loanee wouldn't have made it into our Championship side. As I say, ominous.
I don't know why we acquired Puncheon. It's not as if we lacked cover in the wide right position. SWP, Mackie, Dyer & Smith all able to play there, plus a few others if needs must. It's on the left where we're short, particularly left-back. It made no sense to let Hill go out on loan with no natural cover for Traore. We should of signed someone like Bridge or Bertrand instead of Puncheon. So in answer to the main question asked by Brix, I don't think it will matter so much if Puncheon features much or if at all. Having said that, if he is called upon, I really hope the lad does well. He certainly seems to have that raw potential, that if correctly harnessed by the coaches & management, could see him become a Rangers great.
Agree with 999 that the squad's a bit heavy in terms of the wide right position. For that reason I think that Puncheon has been very unlucky really. I think whenever he's come on he's done quite well IMO.
i think the only reason we got him at last knockings was to boost the squad depth as we missed out two strikers bellamy & crouch he was the last option & was too late to anybody else in. if he performs ok today today we might see him squad/bench for saturday, yes on saturday thats rare at present.
I think we must of been desperate Jeff. Still, lets hope he gets his chance, and set the Prem alight, ( Arsonist! )
I read in an article with Warnock that he didn't even know Puncheon was coming to sign until he saw him running in to the ground on sky during the transfer window. Must have felt sorry for him coming all that way for nothing so signed him on a short term basis.
