Sat 27 May 2013 Palace v Posh Sat 4 Where will get points & how many would we need to survive? Don't see us escaping
Easy points then leeds 3 points cardiff 3 points brighton 3 points watford 3 points and c/palace 3 points Then i woke up lol
Don't worry Minxy, with something to play for our opponents need to win matches against us and hopefully this will give us the opportunity to hit them on the counter-attack, using the space created as they push forward rather than trying to force our way through a 10 man defensive wall - it is what we do best. Remember Cardiff, Hull, Blackburn, Millwall amongst others
Cant see your lot getting drawn down into the fight to survive .... a couple of wins would do you .... could you make that Barnsley & Wolves please
A good point at the end shame we couldn't hold out for the win. Unbeaten so far in March, let it continue! We are getting better, our points per game average in January was 1.33, February 1.4 and it currently stands at 1.5 for March. I think Blackpool will be a scrappy game, their pitch is not in good condition and their home form recently is quite poor, they have only won 1 from 8 (including the Cup game) scoring only 5 goals in the process so I will take a 1 - 0 win. Cardiff are stuttering so we have a chance of at least a point from that match.
Also, apart from the first 7 games with no points and only 1 point from 6 games in November, our form has been play-off standard having picked up 38 points from 24 games (averaging almost 1.6 points per game, enough for 72 over the whole season) we have beaten Cardiff, Hull and Leicester as well as scoring 5 at the Den so we clearly have some talent in the squad, we just lack consistency.
4 points from the first two games is a really good return, just a shame that nearly all the other teams in the bottom 4-6 also won yesterday!
"I think Blackpool will be a scrappy game, their pitch is not in good condition and their home form recently is quite poor, they have only won 1 from 8 (including the Cup game) scoring only 5 goals in the process so I will take a 1 - 0 win." Optimistic Minxy or shrewd judgement? It's nice to be right sometimes!
Re-reading your initial post Minxy I think that Posh having to play most of the teams battling for promotion will favour us, we have put in most of our best performances against top teams - Cardiff, Hull, Leicester etc. those teams will have to come at us, this will leave space in the opposition half of the pitch and we have shown we have the players adept at counter-attacking. After yesterday we have also crucially proven we are capable of rolling up our sleeves and battling for a scrappy victory
I respect your shrewd judgement opp Now could you shrewdly judge our next game to be a repeat of the away fixture
Though not perfect, the London Road pitch is better than Bloomfield Road, more conducive to Posh's preferred style of play. Assuming Michael Bostwick's injury is not too serious (though Brisley seems to have performed well when replacing him) probably the only changes, if any, to the starting line-up would be Swanson or possibly McCann for Barnett or Ferdinand. Cardiff will be much tougher opposition, though they have wobbled a little recently. We frequently seem to be involved in high scoring games with the Bluebirds (4-4, 4-3, 3-2) yet I have a suspicion this will not be one of them. I would love Posh to be 3 or 4 up at half-time but cannot see it, probably finish 1-1 or 2-1 Posh as we are becoming much harder to beat nowadays. (Having said that it will probably finish 5-5 and show my 'shrewd judgement' for what it really is - guesswork)
