I was thinking that because in the olympics great britian can have 3 players over 23 we should start the campaign to get Holt and Morison as two of them. It would be a fairy tale for them, non-league to olympics. Who's with me?
Love to see Holt in it. His physicality against teams made up predominantly of 23 year old or younger would surely prove a great asset
I'm impressed. 3 replies so far, and not one 'visitor' saying about Holt getting into the diving competition instead
In fairness, Grant Holt can't be a million miles away if our best strikers go off to the Euros and then aren't allowed to play in the Olympics.
Would rather they didn't as that would mean they are unavailable for a couple of weeks as the new season would have started. Wouldn't mind adeyemi, smith and rudd going. Or steer.
Sadly the over-age players are more likely to be older guys making cameos as their careers wind down - Messrs Beckham and Giggs have been touted. I'd love to see some of our youngsters given a chance but as an unfashionable club I can't see them getting the nod. The thought of Holty out-muscling around a bunch of youngsters in the Olympic stadium does appeal and it would be the stuff dreams are made of, from part timer fitting tyres to Premiership striker playing for his country in the Olympic stadium is real "Roy of the Rovers".
I'd love to see Holt running out for an Olympic team if only for the fact that he would start the season a lot fitter then previous campaigns!!! (providing he wouldn't get injured of course - the only potential downside to any player's inclusion imo).
