So West Ham have got the Olympic Stadium. Which is fine by me. At least they are keeping it as a athletics stadium. They will lose the atmosphere but i dont care about that.

But what about poor Spurs? they dont get to knock down the 562 million pound public paid stadium and build thier own. Great!

I cant stand spurs. They've had a year in the champions league and they think they're Barcelona. I think they had a nerve to propsoe that they knock down the stadium and rebuild a football stadium for them. This is OUR money that has been spent. Of course they offered to upgrade Crystal Palace by spending 25 million on it. Basically it is too expensive to upgrade WHL and it was cheaper to buy the olympic stadium and knock it down.

And they are suprised they got knocked back!

West Ham of course will struggle to fill the venue. But i also think Spurs would have.

Agree 100%, to waste half a billion pounds worth of tax payers money during a period of huge cuts and massive debt, are they on glue?

Really does stink of Spud arrogance...I'm glad "the FA are forever blowing bubbles!"

    I'm glad.

It's one less white elephant to care about when the final ceremony finishes in 2012.

Now. Who wants an international hand ball centre? Only been used for a few weeks, all paid off. You can use it for anything you like.

Couldn't agree more, I've got no love nor loathing for either team.
It was more the fact the stadium will be kept in it's original state for future use, it seemed to be an utter waste to build a stadium just to rip it down and build another one. This proposed in a day an age where we are promoted to recycle and not to waste things!!!!!

Get In! We promised the world we would keep the athletics track after the olympics so we could hold major championships. It would have been deceitful to do otherwise. Spurs shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near the place anyway as you are not allowed to relocate from your (in London's case) borough.

excellent news, it would have been a disgrace for it not to continue to be used as an athletics venue

I work for a company thats had a hand in a lot of the engineering and infrastructure for the site and i'd be a bit disappointed if those arrogant twats just un-did a lot of people's hard work so soon after its unveiling.

that said i wouldn't want the athletics track either mind. west ham will regret it in my opinion.

I just looked online at what the Olympic legacy will be and it shows that the hand ball centre will be used after the Olympics to host Basketball matches and other indoor sports whilst the purpose built Basketball courts nearby will be demolished....

I think I found where Spurs got their master plan.

Since they were going to reduce seating to 25k anyways, couldn't WH do the same (to a more reasonable capacity of 40k or something thereabouts) if everyone's so worried about them failing to fill it? Obviously the atmosphere is a bigger concern of course.

West Ham have just announced that Daley Thompson and Ed Moses have been appointed as joint Directors of Football, both have indicated that Usain Bolt is high on their list of targets with a possible loan bid for Fatima Whitbread to shore up the back.

I hate Spurs they've always been up there with Man United and Liverpool in my list of teams I really want to see crash and burn.

They didn't deserve the Olympic stadium it's bad enough West Ham are getting it for next to nothing but for Spurs to get it only to knock it down would be crazy after all the money it has cost the taxpayers of the UK not just London.

Meanwhile Spurs will have to continue to look for suitable plots of land for a cheap new development. I know there's been a lot of talk in the past few years about playing a game abroad and taking the Premier league global and I know theres a lovely market in the middle east and Afghanistan are crying out for a franchise

Will the people that paid for the Stadium (the tax-payer) get anything back out of the rent that gets paid? Free tickets for future events? I bet the people that allocated the cash get plenty back in backhanders.

Tickets for games, corporate hospitality with EVERYTHING laid on etc etc.

Surely the tax payers should get shares in West Ham FC? I suppose it could be payment in kind, Carlton Cole round my house once a month to mow the lawn. <ok>

Nothing against West Ham but the Boleyn ground is plenty big enough for them.
