Thought some of us might want to discuss some of the sports other than footall taking place over the next two weeks. A quiet start with just Archery qualifying at Lords this morning and afternoon. Things kick off properly tomorrow with rowing, swimming and cycling, particularly the Road Race. The athletics doesnt get underway until the end of next week.

Let's hope for early golds for Team GB. I'm particularly looking forward to watching Wiggins win again!

What is every-one else looking forward to seeing?

I was getting quite excited about watching that Beach Volleyball. The technical ability of the players caught my eye and I got quite excited about an afternoon of watching tv and enjoying the spextacle.

Unfortunately the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov has decided that it would not be good for my blood pressure and has banned it.

She has also set the Nanny filter on the computer so no wonder I couldn't find the Babe of the Day on the Hull site.

She would do the same with the TV if she could.

Sometimes I think I married Mary Whitehouse by mistake!

I like the swimming and cycling, like how they are like mini tournaments of their own before the track and field starts.

Archery starts today!!! Archery **** yeah!!!!

Unfortunately, they don't seem to be showing it on TV. It's just the 'ranking' round though which is probably why.

Yep no spectators for this bit. Hasn't stopped a lot of people turning up at Lords though!

As a runner myself, I enjoy watching a lot of the athletics and particularly the running events of all distances. Particularly looking forward to watching the Mo man and if Bolt can win again. On a side note, is anyone running the Great South Run 10 miler in October?

Why is this? How are we to know that no one is cheating! Robin Hood will be turning in his grave.

I will enjoy watching all of it but next week I'm at work so that will limit my viewing somewhat. I did play in the top league at table tennis in Southampton so will certainly enjoy watching that. However, I will enjoy watching all the sports really. Olympics is a time for watching sports I would normally ignore and I enjoy it all.

It's just for ranking so usually not opern to the public. Being rigorously policed by officials though. No cheating here:laugh:

I understand that but why do the organisers not realise that people would want to attend and watch? I am watching BBC News and quite frankly their coverage is dire, the camera work is rubbish, the digital media is falling down with regular monotony, why don't they go back to tried and tested technology?

My understanding is that it is normal practice that spectators aren't present at this stage. Not an Archery expert. Think the comms should have been better though! Luckily not my area.

They missed a trick to make a few bob here, some archery fans came over from the USA to see it, I guess they are a wee bit miffed! Not sure how good a sport it is from a spectator point of view!

Watched the test event and you might as well watch it on TV tbh. Much easier to understand. Just hope we don't get high winds or the MCC member had better watch out!

Spectators turned up because the archery ranking was described as a ticketless event. This quite understably led people to believe that it required no tickets to get in (ie free).

My Olympic Games highlight so far is Jeremy Hunt at the bell ringing this morning. Classic.

Beach vollyball, table tennis, sailing, hockey.

Can't really be bothered with athletics, although it's always amusing to see GB dropping the baton in the relay.
