Now that its all over and the British love affair with the Olympics and other sporting occasions this summer, I'm going to put my cynical hat on and say by the time the clocks change next month, 75% of the people who purported to have been inspired by it will have retreated to their bags of crisps and pizzas in front of some moronic talent show on the television.
And you will be able to pick up a road bike on Ebay for next to nothing.
And if all those handicapped people can stand for two hours at a Coldplay concert, then they can park at the back at the supermarket like I have to (just kidding).

Why is it that 99% of those that park in the disabled bays at supermarkets, get out of their cars and walk sprightly into the store ? <confused> Either that or the're the size of an elephant, again walk into the store, sit themselves down in one of those electric wheelchairs, then go shopping filling their trolley with biscuits, cakes, pizzas, fizzy drinks etc ? Perhaps it might be a good idea to fill it with fruit and veg then they might be able to walk around the shop ? <doh>

That does sound terrible as it must be awful to be proper less abled, but just an observation.

I'm off on one now, another thing that bloody gets my back up is when Mum let's her little brat SIT INSIDE the trolley with his fecking shoes on. Who says he hasn't stood in a dog turd or worse beforehand ? Some poor bugger is going to fill that trolley with food after ! <grr>

Can't really argue with your first paragraph, but that still leaves 25% who will be inspired to try a new sport etc. I can also see gyms being really busy for the next 2 months (similar to the 'New Year resolution syndrome').

Slightly 'off topic' - I wish people who are perfectly able to walk/don't have children wouldn't use the disabled/child bays at supermarkets!! Rant over.

Worst offenders in the parking stakes are Chelsea tractor drivers. Bought a vehicle not designed to be parked in a normal sized space (or lack the ability to park in a normal space) so they decide that it is better for them to take a disabled or parent & child bay. Gits.

The true legacy IMO will only be seen in 8-12 yrs time when the
kids who are inspired will come through.

Funding is still the biggest problem, and The Lottery will be
    needed to support the athletes.

No Government will throw £m's at sport.

That smiling twat Cameron will throw money at it if it keeps him in the limelight.
The kids who are inspired would I feel have come through anyway. And I bet a big proportion will have gone to Greshams or Millfield or schools of that ilk. Newquay school is in the throes of selling off part of its playing fields for, yes you've got it, another bloody Tesco!

With any luck Cameron will be out on his ear.

Not that the others are any better.

Tesco's/Asda etc will not stop untill they have stores
    in every town in UK.

While I cannot argue that DC is a twat, what's the alternative my friend ? that other twat Milliband ? <doh> Labour had THREE terms in office and still ****ed the economy up ! It may well turn out to be a 'wasted vote' but I'm voting UKIP next time <ok>

I thought ALL Tories are meant to be jumped up TWATs JWM. Do you mean there are some perfectly sane and decent ones? If true, that must be worth at least a footnote in the Guardian ...... <laugh>

Redruth, are you implying that the people I work with who went to Greshams look down on me for going to a comprehensive?! Lies! (Sarcasm)

If I looked that miserable after winning one of the major tennis tournaments I would shoot myself. He surely must be doing it deliberately. Is it a Jack Dee type of act?
