I was mortified when we were linked with him and think Villa could be up **** creek without a paddle appointing someone so inexperienced. They need an old head whos been there and done it.

I imagine there'll be people who think this is a genius appointment though.

    Any thoughts on this one?

He has to do it some time so why not.

Boro got Mclaren from Man U, and he was a relative success there.

Its getting a bit boring all this, get the old brigade back in, there are 20 positions in the PL, 3 go down every year, 4 get in the CL and 2-3 get into Europe, usually the top 4-6 are nailed on, with the odd exception.

Lets have some new blood, will he be a success, I have no idea tbh, but i cant see why not, remember he was Man Uniteds reserve team manager for 3 years, so that has to amount to something.

He took Molde to the top of the Norwegian league this season (last), but everyone reckons he had serious money thrown at him, and bought some good players and the league.
SAF, said a while back he should stay where he was (Molde),to gain experience before tackling the EPL. It might be a step too large or too quick. McClaren at least was SAFs second in command so saw a lot of the management side.

My point was that the predicament Villa are in needs an experienced manager to come in and sort it out. Im not saying OGS might not make a good manager I just think he should take on a project in league 1 like Poyet. Prove himself then put himself in the frame for top jobs.

I guess these young managers need a start somewhere , not sure the premiership is the best league to start in but who knows may turn out to be a stroke of genius on Learner's behalf. Really wouldn't like it to happen at our place though.

The older i get, i cant tell the difference between most managers, i really cant.
There is a top 10 around the world which seem to suceed where ever they go but the rest move about for fun getting paid fortunes to do it.
I know everybody does but im sure i could do just as well as most of them and im sure most football fans could too.

I think its a good move

Villa are a big club and shud be competing along with us to try and nik a europa league spot.

The managers that are out of work are the same old mid to lower table managers in the likes of Bruce, Mick Mac, McLeish etc. that do the job of keeping you up but thats it.

Villa aint in the position to go out and get a Guardiola or Capello or a Rjkaard so I think its worth them taking a gamble with an up coming manager in Solskjaer.

adding to that we are so lucky we have MoN, he is a class above the mid table mediocrity of the Bruce's, Curbishleys, McLeish's, Mick Mac's! I'm buzzing we have him because if we didn't we would be in deep ****! and thats why he's need to be backed in the transfer market!!

We aint big enough to attract a Guardiola etc. and are (should be) more ambitious than being just a mid table side so I'm so glad we have him as our gaffer and Bruce anymore.

    Extreamly good move

He worked with the youth at man u for 2 seasons before moving to this team in norway they were a middle of the road team and he won them the league they scored like 2.7 a game or somthing like that <laugh>

They will get an experienced back team and if it works they will do well

He was the one name mentioned when we were looking for a manager that I thought was a really exciting prospect. Very risky, but exciting.

All my in-laws, and my son, are Villa supporters, so I hope he doesn't go to there. They know I'd been keen on him for Sunderland, so if he does go to them and he's a big success I'll never hear the end of it.

He has just got Molde to the Champions League, they are still in their season, it doesnt finish until November, I would stay at Molde for another season if all I was getting was a league 1 club (no offence to them). They may crash and burn in the CL, but I can remember Rosenbourg causing a few upsets in the past, so its not a certainty that they are going to get knocked out early, never know, get them to the group stages, and put up a good showing in the group, then even better teams than Villa may sit up and take notice.

I am just bored of the merry go round tbh in the top division, always the same people linked, and they all have PL experience, but got sacked, so fat lot of good thats going to do them lol (and got sacked more than once, you think they would learn). (tongue firmly in cheek, but you get my point).

He's gonna be a class manager, Phelan said his management of the United kids was top notch - he was a natural and he was teaching the strikers some unbelievable stuff at their age. Don't forget that nobody gets anywhere without heeding the advice of others, and our Ole will have some very good friends in England, Sir Fergie for one. Villa have survived this season and have some decent youngsters and squad players to build with next season, Gunnar is the perfect choice for a team like this. Fergie will stop using Sunderland now that Bruce has gone and start to use Villa to develop his younger talent, so I think (if they give OGS the job) their future looks decent. One thing is certain if he does go there: Their strikers will all of a sudden up their game, guaranteed. Fergie said Ravel Morrison flourished under Ole and when Ole left he went down hill, which is there for everyone to see right now, because now, Ravel's just a muppet playing for an idiot at a crap club ran by tossers.

Its an exciting move, but I'm not sure I'd be overly happy if I was a Villa fan. There is a great deal of risk attached and I'd have wanted an older experienced manager after recent events there.
