Me and @NSIS talking about the Valley and the discussion coming from it made me think this is worth its own thread.

So as the title says, post some pics of old stadiums stands either that you went to or wish you went to.

I'll start with the Dell with its 'chocolate box' terraces, this is from before I was born but would have loved to have seen it like this:

North Bank. I used to stand top side, or middle. Which was basically that bit just to the left (looking at the pic) of the small divide down the middle. At the top of the terrace between the 1st and 4th crush barrier down. That was the main singing section that got all the songs started.

I don't know if you can see that little gap right at the back in the wall ? That's the entrance to the bogs and a small concession stand for tea and coffee, they had another one, the other side too. I remember a game against Spurs was so packed that I had to stand on the steps leading up to those little rooms, we scored and I fell down the steps and twisted my ankle. I got taken in a wheel chair to the physio room by the St John's ambulance <laugh>

The old North Bank used to hold 15k-18k, so I would imagine the Roker end was probably 30k+

I used to go home and away for a few seasons back in the late 80's and early 90's. Was lucky enough to see loads of old grounds when they still had terraces. Old Trafford, Maine Rd, St James' Park, Anfield, City Ground Nottingham.

The worst one of the lot was Stamford Bridge. It was a curved terrace on account of a god awful running track around the pitch. The terrace had huge blue fences that sectioned everybody off into pens and the sight lines were atrocious. Also because of the hooligan element back then, away fans would often get locked in for 1-2 hours after the final whistle until the old bill had dispersed everybody.

One of the best was Upton Park. Compact little ground with great views and always an electric atmosphere. <ok>

Old Highfield Road away end was a strange looking stand too, though not sure which side was the away end, anyone here go?

Edit think it's left as I'm sure I've seen pics of away fans on the floodlight in the middle.

Yeah Maine Rd was massive. I used to have this odd wave effect main stand roof too. The away terrace was right next to another home terrace on the opposite stand too. Remember giving loads of City fans **** who were then trying to scale the fence to get in the away end to give us a hiding and the old bill nabbed them <laugh>

Maine Rd back in the 80's. This is looking at the away end. So that corner on the left is where Home and Away fans were closest to each other on the terraces.

This is Upton Park as I remember it. Lovely compact little ground. I used to go as an Arsenal fan there on away days, and I'd also go with mates and watch West Ham in the home end too.

I was on Match of the Day long ago at a West Ham game when somebody shot over the bar, in the replay you can see me in slow motion giving him the ****er sign <laugh>
