Now when there is another break because those WC qualiflyers let talk about old school music again. How many of you older ones remember this great band from seventies. I was a big ,big fan of this band those days.
A lot of Bowie influence there, you can't beat the real thing...
I love Mott. Ian Hunter, of course, is still very much with us. I am a bit of a 70s rock fan, with the likes of Free, Bad Co., Slade, Purple and Zep... ... But I also liked the late-60s/mid-70s Americana stuff like Skynyrd, Hatchet, ZZ, Grand Funk Railroad, Credence, Aerosmith (of that era) and the like. I actually like being a bit of an old fart cos Uber Major and Uber Minor are discovering this stuff from me and think their unconventionally handsome old man is a bit cool these days. Little Miss Uber, however, likes something called One Direction.
Yes, thats true. Bowie was a master in this scene. Here is another great one from that "league"
have a look at the audience throughout this performance they look bored ****less
I loved Deep Purple(the classic line-up)........brilliant band. My 14 year old always reaches for the greatest hits album in the car and puts on "smoke on the water" at full blast!! Arguably the best rock intro of all time.
Old School of a different era this scene still makes the hair of my neck stand up.
Fancy a bit of Gershwin
Mott the Hoople - Great group. Here's another of my all time favourites, sadly now dead for 30 years or so..Alex Harvey and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band....
O.K. You know the tune but hve you ever seen the band?
Have a look at the charts from March 1975 .... bloody hell!
Moderators could you forgive me as i forget to put OT to the front of this thread? Anyway this is one of the greats from the old old school: http://youtu.be/JVZETBC38o4
I like Ian Gillan - it would be sacrilege not to, of course - but I rather like Old Cov's contribution (Stormbringer, Come Taste The Band, Burn) too. Coverdale shares my 'Carry On...' sense of humour and posts all sort of amusing things on Twatter.
Fantastic song, old and new version. Can't wait for the concert in 12 days! I'm So Afraid (live '76 - Rosebud) Amazing live performance, still got it! Lindsey Buckinham = Guitar God = Living Legend!!!!
