Not Ibrox, but check out the size of Hampden back in the day.

That looks like a 130k attendence.

Wonder whose park that is a the top of the pic.

Could be Third Lanark but I thought their stadium was to the West of Hampden rather than the North......

Sweet thread Edge. Even as a celtic fan, its quite cool to see these old pics (especially seeing as I grew up in Govan, so know the area well).

And was it not Cathkin that played beside Hampden, or was that lesser hampden? (which by the way, is one of the best pitches i've ever played on, was even better than hampden itself!)

It is Cathkin. Lesser Hampden on the left hand side.

Whereabouts in Govan, OSP? I spent four years in Brighton Place (an abject dive, really) and could hear every single Rangers goal being noisily celebrated - even with the windows aggressively shut. Torture, to be fair, like a dagger through the heart, although I was happy enough to occasionally pay to watch Gascoigne and Laudrup play. (I heard that Govan was trying to become all swanky these days, incidentally, although I’m not sure how true this may be. I’m guessing you’re better off in Australia, either way.)

Edge – utterly magic. And just look at the crowds. And their hats. Jesus. (I also love the characterful elegance of the cars parked outside the main stand in one of the pictures. They wouldn't look out of place at a Corleone wedding.)
