Will Jol play the same slow build up with Johnson and Zamora up front as against Twente for the Liverpool game or will he bring back the team that did well against Arsenal Zamora up front, with Ruiz, Dembele and Dempsey backing him up. It's a tricky one, Liverpool play a quick counter attack system away from home, bit like Spurs and Everton, teams which we have played well against in the second half of games at home, but late in these games we have been hit by brake away goals and lost valuable points.
I would like a radical formation deployed. Regular 4-4-2 Schwarzer, Baird, Hangeland, Hughes, Riise, Frei, Sidwell/Murphy, Etuhu, Briggs, Dembele, Dempsey. I feel this has the pace and wit to destabilize almost any team in the league whilst still having assets to bring on on the bench (Ruiz and Zamora for example). Dempsey is a deadly striker, we are better off with him there.
I would live Zamora, Hughes and Riise out on the bench... Schwarzer, Kelly, Hangeland, Baird, Briggs, Ruiz, Murphy/Frei, Etuhu/Sidwell, Dembele, Dempsey and AJ.
I think Briggs needs to start ahead of Riise to deal with their pacey players, the likes of Bellamy, Suarez and Downing could cause us serious problems. Would like to see Ruiz start too.
