In the space of a few minutes on the New Stadium thread we have discovered that WBA, CaptainJack and myself all lived in Hong Kong at some stage. Any other Old China Hands out there?

Lived there from '92-'94, was posted there whilst in the Army. Had an absolute blast, went back about 6 weeks ago for a long weekend, lots had changed and lots hadn't. Still love it there and have a new appreciation for it now I'm a bit older. Back then, chasing chicks, seeing who could drink their weight in beer and getting tattoos, all whilst staying out of trouble, seemed to be all we cared about. Great times, all tied in with a great era in music for me, Pearl Jam, Nirvana etc, with Britpop just round the corner. Bought a smile to the face just typing this!

I had my stag do meal in the Chinese at the top of Hammersmith Road opposite the police station, does that count?

Have been an avid reader of this forum since it changed from the 606 board after that closed last year. So very surprised to see this thread about the Old China Hand and thought it was about time I joined the forum myself! Been living in Hong Kong the last three years and have found myself venturing in the Old China worse for wear more than a few times! :D Anyway a little bit more about myself 25 years old started supporting the hoops back in 2000 and never looked back! Miss Loftus Road the atmosphere and the R block immensely but incredible to see how far we have come since then! all the best to all you R's fans and my fellow ones in Hong Kong!

Welcome HK and BrisVegas, I am delighted that this thread has flushed you out! Anybody who chose to start following the Rs in 2000 deserves the utmost respect.

I thank my Dad for that could of stayed MU Supporter otherwise and wouldn't of known any better! Although they were dark days around 2000 I still look back on those years very fondly! Always saw great support and loved being a part of it! On another note for those of you that live or have lived in HK I really want to try and get the R's youth out here for the HKFC sevens! I'm a member down there so does anybody have any ideas on how I can approach QPR about it? think it would fit in nicely with Mr Fernandes and all the Asian connections right now!

Haven't been to HK meself but a couple of mates worked there for ages, one in the police(!), so stories set there abound on drinks nights! Sounds like quite a place. Thought the Chinese takeover would've changed things more than they appear to have.

Good times. Got trashed after the england v Spain euro '96 match at Delaneys in Wanchai - is it still there? - and celebrated with tattoos at Ricky & Pinkys.

Used to play rugby for Kowloon and was always at Banana Joes and then onto Strawberry's where I passed out many times.

My now wide then girlfriend and I were at the China Junp the night Gazza was in the dentist chair and one of my mates got into a punch up with Ray Parlour afterwards in the cab rank

All seems a long time ago now

Nice to know that there's at least one more Superhoops here in Hong Kong! As you all know, we're a minority in these neck of the woods.

Yes, I was out and about that night. I presume you went to the HK V England friendly game itself then? I was wearing my QPR ('view from' era) dark blue QPR shirt. I got a bit of stick to be honest. I remember coming back for a holiday here just after that which was when the Euro 96 was on. Was delighted to see Gazzas celebration.

Yes I was at that game. As I recall it was a Golden XI v England with a couple of ringers playing for Golden in their pink kit. TBH I was quite hungover that day!

Was anyone around New Years Eve I think it was 91/92, when people were crushed in Lan Kwai Fong? I was actually there that might, fortunately had moved on before that happened. We were staying with mates in ....Disco Bay. Chiefly memorable for me as I fell asleep on the ferry back from Central, woke up and had dribbled all over my linen jacket, to the amusement of many. Ruined it, even after dry cleaning. **** knows what I had been drinking, must have been a toxic mix.
