Anyone know what has happened? Just simply out of favour I guess but there has been no commnet on him at all. I know Silva didn't think Hughes worked hard enough in training - does he think the same of Okaka. Just seems strange that after a good game against Liverpool we have not seen anything of him.
If I were Okaka, I'd be off in Jan. He did have one good game against Liverpool, but he's only 3rd choice in my book. Hughes must be wondering when his chance will come. He has time on his side mind.
It's a shame with Okaka as Saturday's game would have been perfect for him over Gray. Arsenal with 3 CB's playing quite a deep line just didn't suit Gray's game. I get why we might not want 2 strikers on the bench though, especially if one is Deeney, so they are probably too similar. I'm sure Okaka will push for a move in January...
The problem is it is so easy for one or both of Gray and Deeney to get suspended or injured, and then he is right back in the squad. Who would our 3rd choice be then?
Richarlison can play as striker - and Michael Folivi appears to be improving with every game, may be ready for a step up.
Okaka was gracefully falling off the page into even more obscurity than he is currently suffering, which could be the final blow to his career. Hence I hought I'd bump the hench man up top again. Doubt Silva will be doing that mind! No Bruce "I-Want-Away" like whinging comments coming out from Okaka. Respect for his fellow Italian owners? So he must be getting his big frame to work in training with no finger injury to hold him back and giving it his all before reevaluating things in Jan. His humble, not notified of his needed move before, money grabbing agent must be on the blower a lot on his behalf, one must assume. Jokes aside mind, not heard a peep about his situation. Is no news good news?
Somebody said today there was an incident after the Bournemouth game but didn't say what so might just be speculating.. Also the media tend to get hold of any in house disagreements these days. And anyway certain others members of our squad are hardly angels so would be very serious in terms of discipline for Okaka not to be picked. Reckon he must have some sort of contract issue where after a certain number of games or goals he gets more money etc. Heard that happen a few times!
Kevin Affleck has said that it's simply a case of Silva not rating him - although I can't see why after his performance against Liverpool in the season opener.
Mystery solved? http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co....ke-his-claim/story-30537416-detail/story.html Essentially Silva does not feel Okaka suits the sort of game he wants to play. He wants fast-moving and dynamic players. His forwards need to press the ball constantly, win it back quickly and attack at speed. It is not unfair to say that Okaka does not fit that profile. Silva said as much after the opening day: "[In the] second half he tired a little bit," he said "He knows his body and he's a different player to the others. When the game is high intensity he normally has problems."
Record signing will get the nod the next 3 games unless he's injured. He'll need to find the onion bag in at least one of those or the pressure of the price tag will grow.
Not sure this adds much tbh.. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp..._no_explanation_for_Watford_omission/?ref=rss
Okaka is a shoddier version of Deeney 2015, not anymore...Deeney can't/won't do it anymore. Would be great to see him get back to what he was that season, but it's never going to happen.
absolutely. It's interesting though how the tide is finally turning against Deeney. We are (in my opinion ) a far worse team when he plays, simply because if he's on the pitch, we hoof it and hope. Worth baring in mind that our two 'preferred' strikers have scored just one goal this season from open play, we definitely need Okaka, he's played one, scored one this season!
Okaka: 58 goals in 289 games roughly a goal every 5 games. Deeney: 141 goals in 449 games roughly a goal every 3.2 games. They are the same age and all. They add similar things when on the pitch but look at the % there H as goals are what strikers are supposed to get. Meh, stats are nonsense anyways! Both are giants that wave their arms about. Deeney "are you Okaka in disguise!"
