Three things... 1/ Coach the lads on how to make a successful pass 2/ Explain to the lads what URGENCY means 3/ Leave Meyler on the bench (or elsewhere)
urgency /ˈəːdʒ(ə)nsi/ noun 1. touch ball, take a twirl, pass backwards to opposing onrushing striker.
Do we really think it's his fault that no one could pass today? Nothing to do with the fact that Stoke were all over us like a rash and gave us absolutely no time on the ball?
So what were our players doing whilst that was happening? Why were our players so slow, so 'relaxed' about it? MP has got to tell 'em to give a ****.
Surely if they are all over us, the team have to adapt their approach. We're a Premier League team and we will face a variety of styles. We've been absolutely clueless in the last two games. We've been that bad that I cannot see where the next win is coming Will Keane looks poor, as does Diomande. Teams will be loving it with us keeping Hernandez on the bench
What do you think a manager does? He's paid to positively influence the way the team plays and ensure they play (by concentrated coaching if necessary) to an acceptable technical level.
Disagree. I don't think they were at all, other than their CB's marking the isolated, ineffectual Keane (who should never have started). Liverpool were all over us like a rash. Stoke weren't. They really weren't that good. But we were awful, as was Phelan's selections & tactics.
I actually didn't think Stoke were that good untill they scored it was a poor advert of a game for the pl. They did improve slightly after they scored but if as we do give the opponents the ball back at every opportunity we are toast
Less possession. Less shots. Less shots on target. Less corners. Surely the manager must go. But that is enough about Leicester.
Yes we did, but anything would have been an improvement on a very nervy first half and start of second half performance. Really think he could have taken anyone off just to get a striker on in the first half - why wait until 2 goals down?
Whenever we lose it's always because someone has been 'too slow' and there's always no urgency. Let me guess, no plan B either? Oh and we didn't get it FORWARD quick enough. Sure. Fact is we have a **** team and Stoke have a top half team. I didn't see us at Bournemouth but today we just played against a miles better side. From kickoff it was like we were a lower league side who'd drawn a Premier League team in the cup. It's not always the manager's fault. We're a club In disarray with a joke of a squad. Of course we're going to get beat. The claim that Stoke didn't press us today is just laughable. It was obvious from the first few minutes that they were deliberately putting us under pressure knowing that our players wouldn't be able to cope and would have to hoof it. It was clear we didn't want to hoof it.
Phelan selected a negative team today, that's his fault. Every other team in the league would have played an attacking formation against Stoke at home. Make as many excuses as you like he's a very poor coach and a worse manager.
Stoke were cack. At least Bournemouth played well last week. Losing to a sub-par Stoke team is worse imo.
We hardly touched the ball. Do you really think that throwing another man up front would have made that better? Phelan said after Bournemouth that his mistake there was chasing the game too aggressively when we went behind. He obviously wasn't going to make that mistake again. It's downright stupid to judge the manager so strongly in this situation. We're absolutely ****ed. Mourinho with this squad would struggle. One small positive from today was that we looked better with the 352 and Clucas showed he's more than capable of playing left back or left wing back. So I expect we'll start with that next game. It hopefully will give us a better chance, but whatever we do we're hoping to scrape 17th an if we manage that it'll be an incredible achievement.
Their work whenever we got the ball was very good. They won it back quickly every time. If people couldn't see that it says a lot about their judgement or more likely, their emotive response to getting beaten at home.
They were stronger than us. They won almost everything in the air and outmuscled us. That's because our players are fannies. Stoke were below average. We were beyond atrocious.
