Yes, about time! I was waiting for somebody to come and post a "hooray" thread, so what kept you? Good result tonight. You're still doomed, I fear, but well done.
Dev's tucked up in bed, everyone else is still going home, so it's just me. Our position is slightly improved but it still looks pretty dire. GD is always going to be in our favour though. If we win our game in hand (I know), it's 2 points from Bristol and safety, so maybe Jake had a point.
Finally something to cheer about. still think it's come 1 game too late but at least it'll keep things interesting for a bit longer. next game is coventry away. If we win that then i'll start to believe
I honestly never thought I'd say this- but Ii think we just might stay up- there are still over 25 points up for grabs !! PUP
Here's an interview with Trevor Birch on ESPN [URL="http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/142052.html"URL] "This is a special club, a great club and you have to experience the atmosphere with the crowd to appreciate it. This club is worth saving and I am talking to three or four prospective new buyers. "Someone will take it on free of debt so it's bargain basement, someone will come in to ensure it survives while we work on ensuring a reduction in trading costs for next years. Any concerns about the club's future are now over." Sounds hopeful, but the "free of debt" is somewhat strange - hope he explains that further, and that it doesn't mean what I think it means, unless it means the other thing I think it means............. if you get my drift.
just got home, was a great game tonight, slightly rode our luck first half but the players were well up for the scrap and got the result APPY has been saying was coming! PUP for saturday at coventry BP
maybe csi have kept to their word and chanrai's debt was found to be a sham. you never know. i said on friday if we get 4 points from the next two games we will stay up so going by that its game on!! a win sat could see us 2 points from safety with a game in hand to play on the tuesday! would be up there with the greatest of great escapes but its pompey so anything could happen. PUP
Never one to wish victory on PFC, but why oh why did you let Bristol City off the hook! They were for the taking, although by experience they are difficult to put down the slippery little buggers! Always preferred Rovers myself. But, to keep things interesting, come on Pompey, this could be the greatest ever............errr, escape. (no more drink for this guy)
Might have had something to do with them having 11 goalkeepers on Saturday - it's the only time I've ever seen them defend.
Some crazy results last night. Which one was more unexpected; us to spank Brum or Forest to hit 7 at Elland Road???!!!
If we had been offered 4 points from Brizzle and Brum at home last Friday we would have taken it. I think that it's too little too late but at least it raises hope as the next 3 games are all winnable, although it never happens as you think it will - like last night. That's the first time in ages that I've left Fratton Park with a spring in my step and a broad grin on my face.
Just got home from the match (joking! ). What a dire first half, followed by some of the best football we have produced all season, in the second half. Thought the arrival of Kelvin Etuhu as a substitute was an inspired move - he was excellent. Lovely goal he scored, plus the best moment when he came from nowhere to take the ball off the foot of Chris Burke (?) on the edge of our area at the Milton End, and then raced away towards the Fratton End like a steam train ! Good to see big Marko score at last, and the cameo appearance of young Ashley Harris in the dying minutes. Keep hoping and believing boys.........
