The merry month of March opened its stay With one of those Derbys we´ll long remember, Where the presents we unwrapped on the day Seemed less like March and more like late December And my, that was a satisfying win In every respect, one of those to savour, Over our near neighbours, we rubbed it in And at the same time, did ourselves a favour Every psychological point is good And the three here today were really massive, We actively did everything we could While some of those around us remained passive Another blaster from good Johnson B Gave us the lead, and came along quite timely, Which later Grabban doubled to our glee As our defence held them at bay so finely So after this long awaited repeat Against our cousins from the nearby county, While they beat a hasty red-faced retreat We´ll be dancing in the streets with our bounty. Yep absolutely Dave, in Alex Neil´s own words, " it´s the win that matters, not how we play in this one"
Well RBF, I've opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate that win!!!! PS - I've also had a small win at the bookies,as one of the scores I bet on was 2-0!!!
The tone of your odes continues to be happier and happier. If this continues RBF, any that you write in May will be bordering on the euphoric! I sincerely hope so anyway.
I hope so too THURNBY, but I´m just about to sound a wee note of warning, which I hope will turn out to be superfluous .
Yes I do agree with the tempering note but I am feeling so darn happy it is becoming almost embarrasing! Remember when we looked at the forthcoming 4 games and were saying that we would be happy with possibly as little as 7 points or 8 and here we are at the end of that series 12 points to the good. One can only hope that it continues for a while longer to reinforce our position of strength and put further pressure on the teams around us.
Yes Thurnby, I was saying I'd be happy if we only dropped 5 points with that run of games. The way the team is playing now, I'm more confident that I was under PL's stewardship, as we are keeping more clean sheets. I'm aware there is along way to go and it only needs a minor blip for us to suddenly drop points, but I'd be very surprised if we're not in the autos come May 2nd!!!!
Absolutely JR. I don't know exactly what it is but somehow AN just comes across as knowing what he is doing, instilling confidence and belief to players and fans alike. His record at Hamilton was very impressive and to be able to make such an immediate impression in the Championship is quite remarkable. He could put PL's tenure into the shade if he is able to maintain this level of imapct for the coming 18 months.
Afternoon fellas, for someone so young (manager-wise anyway) he´s just a great man-manager and motivator, which is what we have clearly missed sínce Lambert was here, and from what we´ve seen so far, I´d say that Neil has an even better tactical grasp of the game than he had. Added to that is the fact that the players have all bought into his philosophy, which has accounted for the sudden lift in form and results. BUT I´ll be a lot happier when these next two are safely out of the way.
Hi RBF, I smiled reading your last note as you are always looking for the next mis-hap and are taking absolutely nothing for granted. I have lived like this for that long that only now am I starting to think that we are on the verge of something special and that the forthcoming fixtures are ones that we should take full advantage of and continue our march up the table. When we look at the next 4 games, they are a much more enticing proposition than the previous 4 and so even accepting that our run cannot go on forever, I would be amazed if we did not have a return of 9 points which would I am sure maintain the pressure on the top 2 and should be enough to actually break into it. Well here's hoping......
Our squad is much better now than when PL was our manager last time in the Championship. That said, the balance in the team is better than it has been for a very very long time. Finally, without Snodgrass, we have a level of unpredictability which must be very hard for the opposition. We are strong in so many positions now, going forward and defending. For the last ten games I just hope we have a fit Bassong. Our defence just isn't anything like as strong without him. If we do go up this season, I am way more positive about our chances than the last time we got promoted.
I´m not looking for the next mishap THURNBY, I´ve just, like you , followed them and football for too many years now, not to suspect just what´s around the corner, but naturally I´d love to be wrong, so just for once, let me break the habit of a lifetime and suggest the following: City 1 - 0 Wigan Millwall 1 - 1 City City 1 - 1 Derby Huddersf 0 - 2 City which to my thinking would still do us plenty of good
I pretty much concur RBF but think that we will win at the New Den but possibly struggle at Huddersfield for some reason.
