If we beat Bristol on Friday, we will be 9 points ahead of Watford with only 9 points available (to them). They then play Blackburn, which they ought to win, thus keeping their hopes alive. They then play Mr.Personality's rabble on the following Friday. Could Lesster send us up??
And that's after they take Palace out the reckoning this weekend as well. Someone should do a thread about NP/Leicester being the ones to get us promoted.
I think fat lady luck was definitely shining down on us tonight, Watford absolutely battered Millwall for 90 minutes, just couldn't find the net, then went down to Millwalls second shot of the match which was also offside. I bet that's hard enough for Watford fans to stomach alone, let alone with us losing. It's like Millwall pushed them over and we walked up and curled off a huge steaming stinking **** right on their face while they were down
I don't know about you lot, but i'd prefer to get promoted when the team is actually playing. Any Hull fans gonna come down for that game? Some Southampton fans came last year when we played West Ham on our last home game. We lost haha
Sounds like a recipe for disaster if you ask me, relations are hardly good between the two sets of fans, can't see it going down to well if we have our promotion party at your place!
Ha - good analogy BS man - although I dont think Millwall had it in them to push us over.... we were already stumbling and on our way down and they just helped us on our way... We have really blown it and I fear for us in the playoffs as we look bereft of confidence. Millwall were awful last night and there for the taking but for several months we have looked a shadow of the team that played so well over xmas and the new year. Fair do's to Hull and Cardiff - in a league where no-one has been consistent you have been the closest to achieving such a feat and have won when you have had to and therefore fully deserve promotion. Hopefully we will decide to start playing again before its too late
after Watford clawing it back to 1 pt after their victory at the KC it's rather surprising the gap is now 6. But we really have to finish the job ourselves. It's like when Newcastle vs Hull City relegation battle 2009/10 when it was one point at Bolton which kept us up and Alan Shearer being appointed boss at the Toon.
We've done that 3 times in the last 10 years (winning at Yeovil, going from groaning about missing a penalty to celebrating promotion in the space of 5 seconds, and then at Wembley), throw in staying in the PL despite losing and finding out thanks to the radio in our ears I want to experience doing something whilst we're not even playing just to complete the set of how you can do things. Even if we win on Friday we probably won't do it ourselves because it won't be guaranteed, and then Watford are playing 2 games before we kick off our next one.
I think that was one final effort of a very jaded team. We are just lucky to have got to the 71 points by scraping home at a point a game for hte last 10. If we had won the Manager of the MOnth a month earlier we would not even have made the play offs. Forget about needing any more points - there is no way we will reach 77 - you are up. Off topic - does anyone know why Hull - the City is always referred to as Hull rather than Kingston upon Hull or just Kingston?
It was probably a put down from the establishment to begin with. Kingston meaning King's town and us being the place that turned the King away at the start of the civil war, without us being stripped of the charter referring to us by the name of the mucky (especially back then) river would be showing the contempt they held us in, and then it just stuck.
