I think most players would want to play for Barcelona. He's at Liverpool and I expect him to stay for many years.
He said it'd be a dream. Of course it would. It'd be a dream for any player. He's got more chance than Rooney or Nani, though.
to be fair it's every players dream to play for Barcelona and if they wanted to buy him then i'm sure we'd make a handsome profit on what we paid for him
It's hardly a declaration of a long-held dream, though, or that he was heading there but got waylaid. In fact Suarez refers to it as an "illusion". Despite his agent being Pep's brother it seems it was never on the cards. Maybe it will be one day but that'll be when he's done such a good a job for us that Barca want him. However, Guardiola won't be there when that happens so brotherhood's not really relevant.
Barca only have around £40 million this year which is small for them so I doubt Suarez will be high on their list
I think we'll get at least 3 years out of him. If we have a bad season this year then they might get him for £30mil+ in the summer, and if he has a good season and they actually want him then expect them to tap him up for 2 years and sign him for around the same amount eventually. I think Suarez has been careful about his moves to different clubs, and has been careful about where he settles. Sometimes these quotes are worrying but this one really doesn't affect me. The guy is a class act and if he settles with Carroll and the team does well then no reason why he can't stay for much longer. Also i'd think by the time he peaks (he's only 24) some of the core of the Barca side may have moved on and the balance of power will be different.
Does he have anything in his contract like a minimun amount before clubs can talk to him? if he has a blinder this season and Barca offer a fair amount, he'll probably go too. I think unles we qualify this season for hte CL it may be bye bye Suarez to Barca IF they want him.
To be fair, like many have said, Barca are the best team in the world. Any player, even me, would want to "some day play for Barcelona". He's not going anywhere don't worry. Not for another 3 years anyway.
Its everyone's dream to play for Barcelona. Just imagine your Lionel Messi, thats my 'happy place' when **** goes wrong
Reading some Epic Swindle exerts, seems this is exactly what happened with Masch. Had a low buy-out clause, wanted to go as we didn't have any CL and the biggest team in the world at the moment wanted him......
Barcelona, ninety thousand supporters, Nou Camp, playing alongside the best players in the world, in a sunny country with all the money you can imagine. Wouldn't that just be the perfect life?
The only reason this has come out is clearly because someone has asked him a question relating to it. He wouldn't just announce from nowhere that he wanted to play for them. Besides which he has 5 and a half years left on his contract.
If Barcelona ever wanted him, they'd have to pay ~40m for him, not because of his current performances but because I predict he'll continue those performances and prove his worth. There's plenty of very good forwards out there, and we're lucky in that aspect - if we lose Suarez at any point, there will always be anyone who we can pick out to replace him. An example is Torres, being replaced by a similarly priced (when we bought Torres) Suarez, and both look like absolute bargains. It's something our club seem to be good at (except Heskey what were we thinking?).
I agree with this common sense appraoch, but I still hate it when players I like leave though Nando was testing the patience. If Nando went to Chelsea after his 30 goal season I would have eaten my own face though
Thing is with these interviews often you can't tell what the exact translation, tone, and context are. I'm red through and through but if i was doing my 50th interview of the week and i'm randomly asked if one day i would like to play for Barcelona i might just say: 'I can't see any reason why not, i'm sure it would be a nice dream to play for them, they're a great club, but i'm sure Pep would want me for my ability not because my agent is Guardiola(other) LOLZ'. But with slight changes that can happen in translation such as altering the word order... 'There is no reason i would not play for Barcelona, it would be a great dream to play for them, they are a fantastic club, but i know Pep wants me for my ability not because my agent is Guardiola(other)' Also Barca are a fairly unique proposition. This team will go down in history and i'm sure there's plenty of Liverpool fans who, if they were players, would fancy a crack in their side. Plus the whole issue came up due to his agent being Guardiola's brother (right relative?) which sounds like an underhand way of getting Luis to talk about Barca. Either way long way between Luis saying this and actually leaving.
