    Can't agree with this.

Why leave it until now when all the facts are ages old. Even the FA can't be that stupid to risk messing up their highly lucrative "play offs" nonsense.

Postpone the play offs? I just can't see it

This is not what we needed to see. The fact that it states FA officials are openly discussing the case is somewhat worrying. In my opinion this should have been sorted out weeks ago, not left until a day before the last match.

    CLUB STATEMENT
Posted on: Fri 29 Apr 2011

The Club are aware of the story printed by The Sun newspaper today (Friday 29th April 2011), but will not make any further statement as both the club and The Football Association agreed to make no comment on this matter until after the hearing.<grr>

I have a terrible sinking feeling in my stomach!! It really does look as though we may be facing a points deduction now. I feel so deflated. Can't celebrate tomorrow even if we do it with all this hanging over us and a points deduction looking ever more likely. Northolt is right, Custis rarely gets his info wrong and I'm not sure I really want to go to the Leeds game now as it could be a very depressing atmosphere indeed!!

No. More likely LEAKED. It's a typical tactic in the lead up to a controversial decision. Softens the reaction when its announced.

No smoke without fire. The FA have had plenty of time to consider all the permutations including Mittal wealth, the likelihood of appeal and impact on the play-offs. BUT still came forward with a strong charges list and an uncompromising timescale.

That made me very nervous. It was like two juggernauts playing chicken with our club's future chained to the road between them.

The only failsafe was to increase the points gap which we've lacked the strength to do. We have to face it (now or on judgement day), we're equally unlikely to succeed in the play-offs. We're knackered and over reliant upon Kenny, Hill and Derry - and a little bit of Taarabt magic now and again to turn 1 point into 3.

Neil was surprised to have hit the heights so early on in his tenure, he knew our shortcomings (lack of strikers and a strategically able captain) and believed we'd be competing for a play-off place at this stage (couldn't have dreamed how right he was - just from a completely unpredictable angle).

Yes, the writing's been on the wall for a while now. I don't doubt there's more than a grain of truth in the Sun article. They've got a good record on health advice and sports insight (is that why journos are called hacks?!).

So if a 15 point deduction were true and if we were to lose out in the play-offs, does that spell the disaster I'd imagine you think I'm peddling?

    Not at all.

Sure we'd lose Taarabt and possibly Routledge - but no one else including Sir Neil! And that would give us both the time to rethink - and rebuild.

It has to be said that Sir Neil has achieved something very precious for us at Rangers. He's brought back the heart, passion and pride in the name QPR and our famous blue and white hooped shirt (and embellished it with the green hooped away strip - I love it). We're a positive, entertaining footballing side again!!

If destiny has us down for another year in the Championship then as far as I'm concerned, so be it. Let's not grissle about it, let's do what the boss keeps asking for and SMILE and enjoy who we are and what we do. I for one would look forward to another year like this one's been. AND it would give the powers that be time to rethink this stupid Euro-Lippi stuff, reassess what us Rs are really about and redefine our future along those unique and charismatic lines.

It may look bleak in the short term but no doubt there's a good reason for everything that happens...

I've been expecting all this for months now. As far as I'm concerned the FA can do their worst for all I care because at the end of the day we're still back!!

    COYRs!

I don't disagree with anything you've said. The part of the Sun article that niggles with me, is the 15 point deduction, how can they have decided on any likely punishment when the hearing hasn't even started yet!

If the worse case scenario were to become reality, then I do believe we would come back stronger & more determined to put things right. Not even sure we would lose any players, I know that there's been a lot talk about Taarabt leaving, but not sure it will happen in the summer.

Who knows whether the Sun has it right - it's always dangerous for one side in a court case to predict an outcome - things change when evidence is heard in court/before a tribunal.

The point I wanted to make is that I've seen several threads state that we won't get a points deduction pushing us into the play-offs, because a QPR appeal would delay the play offs and cause havoc to the league. - Not necessarily so. It all depends whether the Tribunal orders a stay of execution of the award (ie points deduction) pending QPR's appeal. If it doesn't, then we get points deducted, even if we are appealing, and will have to fight the play offs. If we win the play offs, our appeal probably falls away (QPR may have no reason to pursue it except perhaps to get the championship title). If we lose the playoffs, then any appeal over the summer may not order reinstatement - how could it? - we can hardly kick out the winner of the play offs from the Premier League - so we may win the appeal but our award is limited to damages (which obviously would be substantial) rather than promotion.

Let's just hope QPR's case is as strong as Warnock has to been told by "independent leading counsel" that it is. And if it isn't and we get pushed down to the play-offs , then all is not lost 0 but the players are going to need all our support to win the play offs. We just have to be up for it.

The Championship is notoriously difficult to gain promotion from! I for one see nothing to be optimistic about if a points deduction ultimately prevents our promotion!!:emoticon-0101-sadsm

there's nothing good about the prospect of us having points deducted at this stage of the season. None at all.

Taarabt would be first out the door, quickly followed by Routledge, Kenny and Faurlin no doubt. Couldn't see Warnock carrying on if the FA stitch him again.

I only hope messrs. Ecclestone, Mittal and Briatore are up for a legal battle as im almost certain our lawyers would rip the FA to pieces. remember Flav was caught on tape asking a F1 driver to crash into a wall only for his lawyers to get the FIA verdict overturned and a £2m payout to Briatore.

We need these sort of defenders if the **** hits the fan on friday.
