It amazes me when I see the amount of jealousy and bitterness coming from some "fans" since our progression to the CL final. We have been called lucky,anti-football,fkcin **** etc.
What amazes me is that some of the "fans" making these comments support a club that will be lucky to finish 8th in the prem.
Are we that **** or do we just know how to beat Barca? Discuss.

I thought the first leg was very lucky. The second leg was an excellent performance.

To be honest I'm surprised how many fans have said positive things and willed Chelsea on. Maybe the minority are making your paranoia worse!

Chelsea defended well and stifled Barcelona, who were not at their best and seem to be suffering from playing so many games in the World Championships in Japan in December. Credit to Chelsea but if Messi had scored the penalty it could have been far different.

On a separate note would you take Di Matteo as your manager next season?

Not every fan has been like this. Many Fulham, Southampton, Arsenal United and QPR fans have been quick to acknowledge our feat on Tuesday, as well as fans from various other clubs. And even the media were quick to sing our praises (for the first time ever)

The bitterness has come mainly through Spurs and Liverpool (and even Leeds) quarters. Why? Because they know their clubs won't ever achieve anything (especially Spurs) so feel the need to try and knock other clubs.

It's also a sense of fear and denial from them as well. Ever since Abramovich stepped foot in SW6, Liverpool fans out of bitterness and jealousy have felt the need to try and knock our club at any opportunity. Our intent to buy Gerrard was what triggered it IMO as we had the greater financial muscle by a stretch and they couldn't stand the fact Gerrard wanted to move for ambition. Once we won the league, they couldn't knock us for that so the fact we have never won the European Cup is the only thing they can hold onto, it was the same with United until they eventually got the 19th title.

It's a sorry state of affairs to see how far that club has fallen and how desperate and deluded its fans have become.

Spurs know they won't ever achieve anything other than the odd 4th/5th placed finish and in truth are a midtable club. They won't win the league or ever really challenge for a major trophy as they don't have the mettle to go away from home and pick up results and even when given an easy route to Wembley will always come unstuck against the better teams.

Barcelona played two games in the World Club Cup - two. Did you not notice our hectic scehdule where we had to play NINE games last month and NINE games this month and were forced by the FA to play on a late Sunday kick-off in an FA Cup semi-final against Spurs for a few days later to have to play Barcelona. You say they were not at the best, but until they came up against us they were smashing teams left, right and centre whilst Messi was breaking all kinds of records. If anyone is to blame for stopping them in their tracks, it's us. Until they came up against us they were on fire.

Missi missing the penalty is irrelevant. That's another thing you can thank us for. We put the pressure on him in the situation we had caused and we instilled the doubt in his mind as he knew he had never scored against us, along with Cech attempting to put him off. It's as good as me saying, well what if all those penalties against Barcelona in 2009 were given and scored? We could have won 7-1. What if Terry had scored that penalty? We would have been the Champions of Europe in 2008.

And to answer your question, yes I would take Di Matteo as our next manager. My only qualms is that a run of a few bad results and Abramovich's trigger finger will become itchy again and I really do not want that to happen with him as I loved him as a player for us.

Agree, the reason why I don't buy the "tiredness" thing is for the simple reason they have a winter break and larger squad. Mata has already played 50+ games, same for Ramires as well probably. The gulf between them and everybody bar Real is huge.

Barca only play 6/7 tough games a season - Real home and away, Espanyol away, Valencia away, Sevilla Away and Bilbao/Atletico. They could conceivably rest 4 or 5 of their best players and still win the other games. Every game in the PL is a test, every away game is difficult and so are 80% of home games.

We rode our luck in the 1st half vs Barca (1st leg) admittedly but given the fact we had just slugged out 90 minutes against one of the fittest sides in the PL I am not surprised.

In the 2nd half of both legs I never really felt Barca would score, it seems that if you can deny them an early goal, they struggle to break teams down.

Hi Yurrilly and District Line, I agree that Chelsea did well and as I have said I think you stopped them from playing which was why you won. However, to say that Messi (or Missi as you called him) missing the penalty was irrelevant is untrue - I think the momentum was shifting Barcas way and this did dent their belief. Barcelona have already played 62 games this season and they do have quite a small squad compared with Chelsea. I think players like Messi with all the air travel and internationals is likely to take its toll.

Bayern looks like a tough game but should hopefully be an interesting one :).

Thats absolute bs,did you do a poll on the Liverpool board before you gave a sweeping comment about all of us?

So you reckon all Liverpool supporters liked Chelsea pre-Abramovich and pre-Gerrardgate,<laugh>
As for your paranoia about you winning the EC/CL being thrown in your face by all Liverpool supporters, why if you win 1 would it bother a club thats won 5?
Just like 'all' Chelsea supporters weren't responsible for the booing at your semi v Spurs not 'all' Liverpool supporters want you to lose to Bayern.

You might find a few on our board that remember you wumming and threw it right back at you,but a few of us were on your board after your win v Barcs and congratulated Chelsea.

I agree with you, there is no doubt Messi missing the pen changed things. It was a massive turning point, had we conceded a 3rd there is no way we'd have gone through IMO. Messi faded from the game that point onwards and so did Barca.

If you fell over the cat, you'd blame Spurs, as we all know how much you love us <smooch>

BTW...thought your away kit was fantastic (seriously)

Thats from an actual game between our clubs, that song was born out of us being written off by Mourhino and everbody else in our first CL semi, its not like its relevant to you beating Barca and possibly beating Bayern.

If Chelsea fans feel the need im sure they'll make up a song that will remind us how far we've faded in the league and how you've won the CL(if you do win it),anyway you've obviously made your mind up on the matter even though your wrong imo.

In truth I never really hated Liverpool that much until Benitez, and I am sure the same with you hating us until Jose.

There is bitterness on both sides IMO, I just gave the Chelsea version

Literally the only problem I have with Liverpool is their arrogance at times. They're a terrific club who've achieved more than most clubs can dream of and I respect them hugely for that, but some fans think they have a devine right to win things.

They're a big club history wise, but not winning the PL in 20 years puts a major strain on their title.

Benitez and the fans (generally speaking) are the only problem I have with them. Sub Benitez for Dalglish now ;)

On the pitch I have nothing but respect for them, especially after Istanbul and how they performed at our place in the 4-4 draw.
