http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14497043.stm Swindon are interested in signing QPR's Leon Clarke, BBC Wiltshire understands. The 26-year-old striker has a year left to run on his current deal at the Championship club. Swindon boss Paolo di Canio had earlier told the station: "I don't know if it will go through as he is a big player with a big club in the Premier League. "He's young and he's at an age where he can take off and this could be a big occasion for him - he would be a key man in our squad." Di Canio added: "It would be a good chance for him to score 20 to 25 goals minimum." Clarke arrived at Loftus Road last summer from Sheffield Wednesday, but spent six months of last season out on loan at Preston after failing to hold down a permanent place in the Rangers squad. "We had a chat together and I'm happy because he wants to come," he said. "I spoke with their chief executive and they want to help us out but the wages are amazing, even at League One. "If we can help each other maybe he can come but there is the amount of money which is too big for us." However, Di Canio has not ruled out taking Clarke on loan. "We'll search in both situations," he said. "We spoke about a loan for one season and see if we can bring him but I prefer to have players who belong to us." Meanwhile, Di Canio also confirmed his interest in signing Swindon trialists Lander Gabilondo and Michael Wojtanowicz on permanent deals. I think that Di Canio could be on to a winner here and should stop at nothing to get his man. Hopefully Leon will get regular football and a chance to ressurect his career lower down the leagues. Good luck to both.
Good luck to him. I never had a problem with him as he seemed desperate to impress just severely lacking in the ability to do so. It's like Agyemang. God he's terrible but he's still one of my favourtie players at the club.
