Oh-dear-wingie: Want-away West Brom striker slams own club on Twitter 26 Jan 2013 18:09 Nigerian also admits his advisors warned him this was a bad idea Twit-storm: Peter Odemwingie has used social media to try and force transfer Twit-storm: Peter Odemwingie has used social media to try and force transfer Laurence Griffiths Peter Odemwingie has taken to Twitter to start a war of words with his own club. The want-away striker had a transfer request rejected on Friday but seems determined to force through a move away from the Hawthorns. QPR are known to be in for the Nigerian and have already had a £2million bid turned down. Odemwingie has come under fire from some Albion fans after making clear his desire to leave. He tweeted: "I can understand the reaction of few Albion fans on my desire to leave the club. Real reason? Cos they once doubted my commitment. "Want to know why I wanted to quit top flight football last summer earlier than I wished to? They know at the club. "Albion fans are not the only reason, but made it easier for me to decide to stay and try my best to forget about the disappointment. "I succeeded in doing that. But it's not getting better. Before bigger disappointment comes one day, I better leave on a good note." Odemwingie admits his agent advised him not to make the Twitter outburst. He added: "I am crazy haha adviser text saying don't tweet, it weakens our position. Doesn't weaken nothing ! When I want to do something, I Do it." In his original statement, released after his transfer request being rejected, Odemwingie said: "I'm deeply hurt and in some ways offended by the lack of reciprocal common respect from the management of West Bromwich Albion. "During my time at the club I believe I have delivered performances, effort and goals. "I never complained when I found out that the club failed to inform me of enquiries that might have interested me and my family in the past. "Everyone knows how much effort and commitment I always give when I play for the club. The fans have been great with me and I will always respect them. "At this stage of my career, this opportunity may not come around again. A new challenge, a new opportunity, and a chance to play under the stewardship of one of the most respected managers in the game (Harry Redknapp)."
Seems strange how keen he is to get a transfer to us, must be a big pay rise involved! I only hope if he does come that some of his motives are at least in the challange to fight for us to stay up!
Don't want him after he acts like this. Clearly just after more money and frankly his outbursts are embarrassing. Odemwongaaaaa
He's having a chat with some fans, here are a few responses: "I ask club what they think ? Answer - not now. Maybe summer. I ask- or is it tactics to get more money? Answer- we have enough now there is no prise for you. We need you. I say ok. What's the prise for summer ? We will tell you after the window closes. I laugh and say. Then I have nothing in hand. Give me something to hold on to. Meanwhile I don't complain I ve not been happy I say - I have served the club well and deserve at least to have a prise now so I can plan my probably last move in England want to know incase they don't extend it in the summer. Don't want another summer window not knowing what will happen"
"because she is already attached to our new house and family here and so on. Already crying now. What will happen then ? could be italy, Spain, Qatar, China, Russia, Turkey, America. Her parents will start crying their daughter going too far also England don't believe after 30 plyers should get long contracts. One year contracts. Even great Lampard, Drogba, and so on so basically club told me - boy you go kill your self till may so people still think u good. Just 14 games son. U can do it !" So in essence, he doesn't have any assurances of his future at WBA after summer, and doesn't want to muck about his family by moving around loads. Sounds like we're offering him a long contract, and he wants to take it now so that he knows what his future holds. West Brom are trying to use his desire to move to motivate him- 'work hard over the next 14 games and make yourself desirable to other clubs for the summer'.
best compliment I have ever received in my carrier as a player. manager like HR spending to bring me for mission "impossible"
He really lost the plot there the guy is spilling his guts on the twatter. I can't say I've seen any other celeb doing this.
Bizarre isn't it. All this is happening as we speak, he's still having a rant! I think he'd stay if we got relegated, because part of the motivation for the move is to get his family settled (he thinks this could be the final move of his career).
Yeah I read that also, and he doesn't want to wait til summer or something like that And what about this Jordan Preece ‏@J_to_the_Peezey @OdemwingieP Peter you seem like a lovely chap, why not move to a big club like the villa where we will all love you #
Me too. The popular assumption is his motivation is money but the guy just wants a new challenge and he wants to play. I'd sign him, especially if we get relegated. Can see him being a handful like HH.
That's pretty amusing A wigan fan asked if he wanted to go to their club, and he responded "your manager wants me till today cos knows what I can do cos he knows football well. Top man he is !". He also retweeted someone's suggestion that he move to a dubai club...so it sounds like he doesn't care where he goes as long as he gets a decent contract :/
Do we want a player like this? I'd prefer the one Colin wanted for one, but wasn't given the readies to buy, Graham at Swansea.
Don't know which is worse .................. spilling his guts or dropping his guts, either way ............. things may get a bit wiffy! Think Arry should stay clear of him. We don't need another 'drama queen' on the books.
