:emoticon-0107-sweatFerrie still blighted by knee pain
BRENDAN Rodgers has admitted Ferrie Bodde is again struggling with his knee as doubts remain over when he will return to action.

Bodde has not played a competitive game in 18 months because of his ongoing battle with a cruciate-ligament injury first suffered way back in November 2008.

Bodde, who has failed in two previous comeback attempts, had hoped to be fit for the start of the season after returning to training at the back end of the last campaign.

The Dutchman made a brief appearance in Swansea's pre- season friendly at Port Talbot last month, but has not been seen since.

Swansea said after the Port Talbot game that Bodde was suffering with a hamstring problem, but it has now emerged that his knee is still causing concern.

"It's a slow process with Ferrie," Rodgers said. "It's something we are monitoring on a day-to-day basis.

"He came through the beginning of pre-season well.

"He has not taken a backward step, but it's one where he is still getting some pain in his knee, which doesn't let him feel that he can push on as much as he would like.

"He is working tirelessly with our medical team — we are doing everything we can to give him the opportunity to play, but it's not something you can rush.

"It's something we just need to do in Ferrie's own time.

"When he feels right, hopefully he will get back on to the field."

Bodde was one of the stars of the Football League before his injury problems began.

And it is thanks to the immense talent he showed in his early days as a Swansea player that the club were prepared to offer him a new one-year performance-related contract this summer.

A less gifted player would almost certainly have been discarded after so long on the sidelines, but Swansea have fingers crossed that they will eventually be rewarded for their patience.

Fingers crossed he will be okay !!!!

I feel for the guy so bad... I had started to worry about him because after being involved in the first friendlies, it struck me as odd he wasn't involved in the latter pre-season games if it had only been a slight tweak he picked up before going off against Port Talbot or whichever game it was.

Hope you get better soon Ferrie, coming from someone who is 25 and who's body is falling apart increasingly quickly, I really feel for you!

Hope not Musty.. But cant really see him playing this season ... The worse thing that could happen to him is playing live on Sky and breaking down in front of the cameras..

His head must be up his @rse

I was talking to one of the younger swans players (who shall remain nameless) on Friday. He said bodde has had it really struggling with same knee and he will be amazed if he is ever right again.

i think we have seen the last of bodde in a swans shirt, its obvious his knee will never be right again and he should think about retiring now, the swans and bodde has given the situation their best shot and it looks like they have come to the end now and accept that his knee will never be able to stand up to any football let alone premiership football, bad luck bodde...

Feel so sorry for Ferrie. Was great to see him on the pitch at Port Talbot, but as in previous attempts, was all too worryingly brief. Can't see a way back now.....

shame if he is finished as i never had the opportunity to see him play. if so, does that mean another midfield is required, or is the fact that he didnt play last season take that into account?

I think we should wait for the club to say so, speculating that he's finished before the club or bodde issues a statement helps little, I suggest we wait we will know soon enough.

he as gone jager, they have tried everything over 3 years to get his knee right, he has lasted 15 minutes of play and its crocked again, he wont play football again for anyone he is finished, enough is enough he should find something else to do in football or out of football. there is no point in wasting his and the clubs time anymore..

None of us really know. I think we should just back off and see what happens. We shouldn't try to accelerate bodde's demise, who knows what could yet happen.

of course we know the club announced it...enough messing about now everyone has given the situation their best shot, we should move on and not waste any more time on bodde, find another midfielder as bodde is finished,

Rubbish Dai the club has said nothing, and until they do it's speculation, when or if they do come forward and say so I hope you have more compassion than the above, he done his knee playing for us, his career could be over because we rushed things to begin with, the boro player we are supposed to be in for had 4 cruciate ops! The point is he is not costing us anything so we should help as much as possible.

its not rubbish jager, Brendan said himself that bodde's knee has not stood up. so you are saying he will be back (3 years and counting) fit enough to compete in the premiership, no way on this earth with his knee problem, if the club persist and he comes back he wont last 5 minutes, what a waste of time and money...find someone else instead of messing around on a once brillient player who sadly got one of those injuries that most wont come back from...
