I don't know about anyone else, but I think the level of performance from Premier League Officials has been generally poor this season.

There are far too many examples of where the officials have changed the course of a game with poor decisions, and thus, changing the direction of the season as far as the destination of the Premier League Trophy is concerned.

I am a Newcastle United fan and have no great love of any of Liverpool, Manchester City or Chelsea, but I do love the game of football and it's a real shame to see it being directly affected by poor officials.

The time is already upon us where video technology needs to be used in the Premier League and for International fixtures.
The 'stakes' are too high these days for big decisions to be left purely to three people who are, ultimately, human.

Most other sports use video technology and it works perfectly well... All that is required is for an extra official to be sat in a room watching the matches with the video replay technology available to them.

I'm not going to persecute individual referee's as they suffer from the limitations of being 'only human' and it's clear that the modern game requires this move forward. We already have successfully implemented goal-line technology and the game is better for it <ok>

There's over a hundred and thirty years of poor decisions which have affected titles/cups/relegation. We just seem to feel aggrieved moreso now bcos of the TV coverage from a thousand different angles at a thousand different speeds. Then it's reported during half time, after the match, and on channels like Skysports with the controversy caused fuelling their subscriptions.

I have to agree, the level of officiating in matches has been particularly worse this season, but imo that's down to the guy in charge, ie. Mike Riley. He is culpable and is ultimately responsible. He should be held accountable bcos it has been poor.

Should we have video technology? Not sure tbh and not sure if I care enough. We've had decisions for and against us. I don't believe the "things even themselves out" argument, but same token I usually just shrug my shoulders, accept it's happened and just get on with it.

We need to move with the times, video playback are needed for the refs to use, Norwich should have had a penalty, and that cockup by the ref may cause them to get relegated.

Yep. Harsh on Norwich if they are relegated, partly, because of that decision.

And poor if Liverpool win the league, wholly, because of the penalties Suarez won, and Skrtel got away with

I agree that the coverage is overly-polarised these days and that bad decisions have always been made. The thing being that these days we have a perfectly good way of eliminating those errors and it seems daft not to use it.

That's a fair point. I wanted the goal line technology but many opposed to it said it was the thin end of the wedge - meaning that it would lead to further video tech that would cause greater interruption for all sorts of things. Offsides, throw ins, fouls (penalties AND free kicks), did the ball go out for a corner, who had the last touch for a corner? You see it in cricket, where umpires are quick to send up decisions on all sorts of things to the third umpire. It could leave the door open for every decision being reviewed in football. Can you imagine a ref not wanting to use it for ALL marginal decisions ...and even those they're pretty sure about but want to check to be sure...after all why not? There are a heck of a lot of marginal decisions during a game (most are insignificant) we tend to focus on the headline grabbers.

So I'm not saying I'm against video technology, but I have concerns about the practical applications of it.

Thinking about it, Newcastle United AND the Premier League Championship were affected by a very poor decision...

Happy that goal line technology comes in but that us where I draw the line. Happy to accept the rough and smooth with regard to the rest.

Perhaps your mate is too dim to see that there's a line you don't cross. If it didn't warrant banning then Brb wouldn't have banned him would he?

I was going to post an insult in relation to your stupidity, however, in light of your recent actions, I had better not otherwise I run the risk of starting a banning campaign against me <laugh>
