Robin van Persie is now a Man Utd player and will feature against Everton. I have to say I am amazed at how quickly I realised how wrong I was to call him a **** in the past, he clearly isnt. I hear he made a young disabled boy walk simply by touching him and hes donating all his wages to charity What a guy.
no point in pretending otherwise, Utd have got a brilliant player. can score and create, very good at passing and does not come across as a spoilt child.
Fergie HAS to rest him versus Arsenal... They already try to take out our players anyway.. But he'll get chopped in two.
taken from the Daily Fail Robin van Persie has revealed his delight at signing for Manchester United. The Dutch superstar completed his £24million switch from Arsenal on Friday morning. He said: 'Itâs an honour to sign for Manchester United. 'I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of so many great strikers, bringing my experience and playing my part to help the team compete for the biggest trophies in the game. I canât wait to get started.' Cue more bitterness from deluded Gooners.I've been so tempted to WUM them but I feel kinda sorry for them. "HE GOES WHERE HE WANT'S..HE GOES WHERE HE WAAAANT'S...ROBIN VAN PERSIE.. HE GOE'S WHERE HE WANTS!!!"
Gazautd I can only speak for myself, not other Arsenal fans. I do not begrudge Van Persie leaving. he has given us 8 years (discounting injuries), for a foreign player that is a long time. there is also no doubt in my mind that he did not leave for the money (though if reports are true, he will get more at utd than he would have at arsenal) but rather to win trophies. 8 years, 1 FA Cup to show for it. utd have proven themselves to be consistent winners. at 29, he does not have another 8 years to go. do not blame him. the only thing i hope for, is that he does not go all Nasri on us and start talking badly of Arsenal. i hope he understands the value of pr and says he enjoyed his time at Arsenal but just wanted a change in life and wanted to test himself elsewhere. there arsenal fans who are probably more fanatic than me, but let us put it this way, if he was a rubbish player, we'd have asked that he be sold anyway. fans a re fickle that way
@ Red you are 1 of the few.The point's you've raised are exactly the reason why he's gone. The thing is,in the time he's won 1 FA cup medal United have won 13(I think) major honours. Personnaly, I think he loves Arsenal, but his career will be over soon and he wants to win things. Not saying he can't do that at Arsenal, but how many times does he have to get to Feb/March an think."only 4th place to play for"? the other thing that confused me, is why did his contract run down to a year left before Arsenal talked about renewing?
The best thing about RVP is that he is a true professional and lets his football do his talking. I think if he has any negative thoughts about his time at Arsenal he will keep them to himself. All he wants is trophies, and with United he will win them. Simple as that. United don't go trophiless two seasons in a row.
Nani stands all of the time like ROnaldo does when he's taking a free, You dropped a few shapes there Nani
I do honestly find the majority of Arsenal fans' responses to the transfer quite strange. It's not like he's refused to play, walked out on the club, deliberately run down his contract to leave for no fee, or forced a move through in the last week of the window. Arsenal wanted him to sign a new contract, and he informed them in plenty of time that he didn't want to. They've known about it for months, Wenger has brought in two good replacement strikers, and you've gotten a very fair fee for a 29 year old. Maybe he 'owes' Arsenal and Wenger for developing him into a world class player, but then do Arsenal not 'owe' him something for scoring so many goals, leading the team and staying with the club so long when he could have requested or forced a big money move for stupid wages at pretty much any point in the last four years?
I agree with this but would you feel the same if say Rooney was going the other way instead? Footballs fans are not the most rational bunch and bottom line is their best player has been sold to a rival. Must be hard to take.
I'd feel the same way, but can you honestly see SAF letting someone like Rooney going to a domestic rival? SAF has a lot more control of the club than Wenger does at Arsenal.
I wouldn't be happy, but I'd hardly be abusing him and threatening to kill him. Particularly if he handled the transfer the right way - I can understand the anger about players like Tevez, Torres and Nasri who basically **** their clubs over when they leave and / or talk a lot of **** about them, but RVP has been nothing but respectful towards Wenger and Arsenal, and Arsenal have gotten a good deal. Also, if the situations were reversed and we were in Arsenal's position then I would fully understand why he left if we'd won nothing for six years. I'd be more pissed off at the club and manager for failing to build a squad that could convince him to stay. For all this chat about players should be loyal to their clubs, the club has to be loyal to the player too. And that imo implies that if you want your best players to stay then you have to give them a chance to compete at the level they play.
Totally agree, only gripe I've got with VP is that he's had years plagued with injury and the club did stick by him but that aside I see no problem with what he's done. I seriously doubt us lot would be mirroring the gooners actions if Drogba had done something similar. Oh and the fact that he stated his undying love for Arsenal, put pictures of him in his room as a boy with Arsenal pics and strips plus said he wanted trophies there. Just out of interest, why Torres in those examples? He got Liverpool £50m, only played for them for 3 years so I don't understand the loyalty bollocks, I seriously think 'loyalty' is a misused word. If I went to another country, I wouldn't give a **** about loyalty, I'd focus solely on MY career as a player. I'd understand if he'd been playing for Liverpool for years and been brought through their academy.
