Wonder if GT had a word and said we'd be better off having football/Watford fans only on the board rather than a "few mates"?

Remember Davids got a coule of million in for next 4 years so a good business head still advising, with GT a good football head and Stuart a good legal business head, you'd have to be daft not to listen.

Well, appointing himself to the board is a logical step... Appointing the others he intended to have there not so much! He now realises what Watford is all about and knows he's got the rght people there. Well done Bas!!

A slightly odd statement on the club website, since "Watford Leisure plc" no longer exists .They must mean the new company, Watford F.C. This does clarify Mr B's role, since it was odd to have him claiming "hands on" managership yet not be CEO or on the Board. I presume he will now start (officially) taking a salary--and showing more visible leadership, and making himself more available for questioning by the media and fans. Somewhat reassuring that the non-football/ non business people like the hairdresser, the knee surgeon and the solicitor are not to be involved in the running of the football business. Why were the shares held by the knee surgeon in the first place? And what was the role of the hairdresser ever supposed to be? Speculating--looks like GT and Fransen are getting a grip of Mr B and bringing him under control. Good! But again odd that he has to say " we have not fallen out" . Why deny something that had not been suggested? He does not have a history of successful working partnerships--lets hope the ones with GT and the rest of the Board last at least a season.

Come back when the grass is greener, w-y.

Although I'm personally still quite undecided on Bassini he has decided against bringing in those other people (anyone know who they are?!), which is a good move. With GT and Timperley there I'm confident it'll all be fine.

But still, what will he appoint himself as next?

Watford Leisure PLC does still exist its just its an Ltd!!!! As it sits its WFCL / Watford Leisure PLC / Watford Association Football Club Ltd. WFCL holds all the shares of WLP who in turn hold WAFCL. As I understand it Bassini has now put himself on the board of WLP, he has possibly removed Panos from the board of WFCL and the board of the club remains as GT, ST and DF.

Just as people thought the running of Watford FC was becoming so simple, can I throw some names at people? We all seem happy with Graham Taylor, Stuart Timperley, David Fransen and Baz ......

But what about the "consultants" currently working for Watford FC Ltd :

Angelo Barrea - solicitor, who runs various businesses from 85 Oxford Road, Wycombe. One such business is "Watford FC Ltd". You may have seen his name listed as the other man on the committee which appointed Sean Dyche.

Tony Samuels - a management consultant of various businesses.

Keith Lassman - one of the many other partners of Howard Kennedy management consultants.

I presume if anyone lists their interests as "consultant to Watford FC", this means that Watford FC are utilising their services and I assume they are costing the club money.

Very simply the affairs of our £10m small business have never been more opaque than right now. At least under the Ashcroft, Russo, Simpson, Ashton and previous regimes people could always have a good "dig into their histories". Nowadays it is only getting more difficult, and yet Watford FC should be such a straightforward business.

Do I believe the off field management of the club has improved or become leaner (cheaper) with this news? I doubt it.

I get the impression that Mr B prefers to conduct his business in private and would prefer to keep in the background/out of the spotlight. He resisted the media/fans requests to tell more about his business history, the sources and scale of his wealth, his intentions towards the club etc (OK we can stop asking about all that, because we will get no answers and it is maybe less important than what he does next.) He initially set up a convoluted ownership structure with Panos holding his shares, and put friends of the family on the board of the holding company , rather than taking direct ownership/control. Yet he seemed to want to run the football business with out being CEO or on the board. I think GT and/or Fransen must have told him that kind of secretive approach may be OK for a strip club, restaurant, car wash or property company but is not appropriate for a football business, especially one that aspires to be rooted in the community, approachable to fans and open to local media. So he seems to be coming more centre-stage, and taking visible responsibility. Good. Part of the "learning process" he has mentioned. Still leaves a lot unclear though.

I see the conspiracy theorist are still out....

Or bas bought the club- has to keep gt and the others on board(Because if gt leaves the club reverts to ashcroft) so apointed a few people to ensure he has a boardroom majority which is his right- seems he has developed a decent working relationship with the existing members so has dispenced with the extras.

We never even knew the names of the legal and management in Fordwat so this is really a red herring, it certainly wasn't ashcroft doing the leg work.

Trouble is that millions can be wasted on consultants and as there is no bar in the contract to employing them who is to say this is not how BAz takes money out of the club?

The actual news on Board appointments is good as it does suggest Baz is content to work with the existing members who we trust rather than plant board members to outvote them

Ashcroft is actually more transparent than you think, its just the tax saving scheme gets complicated. Andrew Wilson runs Ashcroft's UK businesses incl Fordwat, you can look it up.

I don't trust Baz's property consultant associates, they are clearly "exploring options" on Vicarage Road. How many of these feature Football, the thing we actually "care about"!!! At least I am honest and straightforward in my beliefs.
