I can't see Mike offering this kind of money unless it is heavily performance related?
Probably Chinchilla **** but thought I'd share.

    http://www.footballfancast.com/football-news/newcastle-table-offer-to-sign-former-man-united-boss

Newcastle United have tabled a £5m-a-year offer to lure former Manchester United manager David Moyes away from Real Sociedad, Metro reports.

Despite being sacked after less than a season with the Red Devils, Moyes’ move to the La Liga has once again built up his managerial reputation.
He joined the Spanish side when they were battling in the relegation zone, but has now lead them into 11th place, ensuring another year in the top flight.

Interim Newcastle boss John Carver, who replaced Alan Pardew earlier in the campaign, has struggled badly, with his team now only two points clear of the drop in 17th place.
However, if they do get relegated, it will be almost impossible to convince Moyes to give up his job in Spain to manage a Championship side.
Ahead of their recent 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, the Magpies suffered eight consecutive losses, and only have two games left to save their season.

No decent manager of sound mind should ever consider coming here. Therefore it means we will get a fooking maniac in charge per se!!

No way do I want Moyes!
For £5M a year performance related or not we can get a much better manager.

Now if this is true then surely we need to spend big on players and new coaches so that he has a chance to get his performance related bonuses?!

No way is Ashley going to pay a manager £5 million. This has to be so far away from what Pardew received and no way Ashley is going to suddenly dip further into his pockets for a pay hike of that size. Besides, we need the money to buy some players.

The only other thing I can think off is if the £5M is for him and HIS coaching staff?!

I am in a confident and optimistic mood that if we stay up the money is going to be spent this year and lots of dead wood will be departing!

I think Moyes would jump at the chance to come and work under the best coach in the Premier League.

I think you're missing the point. We have to offer £5m to get a reasonable coach - if we want a good one then we will have to offer £10m. Who in their right mind woyld come for less than mega bucks?

The truth may be somewhere in the middle.
A 3 year contract would work out at £1.66m a year which is about Moyes' worth.
It could be that the press are just twisting a tale.

Probably utter tripe but lets hope it's true ...?

Would love moyes, but ...would he really? He'd demand full control over everything, like you had at everton, and I see no way Fat Mike giving him control unless he's been mind possessed.

If 5 million means him, his coaching staff and the liquidation of our current ****ers in Carver, Stone and Woodman I would take it.

Close. £5m was for a ten year contract, so £500k a year. About Mikes level, and derisory enough to be turned down by everyone in world football except carver....

We went down years ago, lessons weren't learned. We came close to relegation two years ago, lessons weren't learned. We're either going down or coming close this year, why suddenly will lessons be learned?! Makes no sense. Carver still be in charge, the risky cheap buys will carry on. The only difference is there'll be slightly fewer fans giving a sh!t. Including me. If Charnley and carver are still there I won't be. Simples.

You pack in with your reality checks. Let people believe all over again.

Seriously I have truly given up on the club now. I know full well I'll end up watching games on Sky, following results etc. I don't think you can just stop. Plus I have to go for work.

I could handle relegation, I could handle playing in League 2 to be honest. I can't stand this perpetual nothingness. As I've said before I'm not exactly in love with modern football, certainly not the game here. To then have the club you follow become what we have just seals the deal for me.

We are literally like a SD shop. We have closing down sale all the time but never quite close down <laugh>

Could be one of the reasons that Ashley has today asked Rangers to give him his £5 million loan back pronto.

Good article reinforcing the point I made above. This will not change. It replicates two years ago in every way - a stream of mooted targets distancing themselves from the club, which will inevitably be followed by John Carver given the reigns as the club "recognises its mistakes". He'll get a small influx of unheard of nobodies and injured freebies, proclaim it's a great squad then off we go into 2015/16. Anyone continuing to follow this is beyond help. I get the tribalism, the false sense of loyalty, but beyond all that is a fat, enormously wealthy man sticking his finger up at literally everyone "because he can". The article nails it, for me - if we keep going, he wins, but should we stay away because he's so repulsive? No, fck him. Lose-lose, win-win, it's all about perspective. One thing's for sure - money conquers all.

That's actually the first article I've read on that terrible publication that has had any resonance with me. Its bang and its why I have given up on Newcastle. I hope we win every game of course but the reality is that the club doesn't give a ****, so I kinda think why should I. Being stuck between neutral and reverse season upon season just kills any last shred of enthusiasm. I'd rather be having a go and failing completely.

He has the fans by the short and curlies, I wouldn't criticise any fan for walking away or remaining. Its just like a game of poker to him, he is just gambling on the fans not being able to give up the club. Look at last season. Before it started I was disappointed and thought our business was poor. However there were plenty who suddenly thought we had a top 8 squad and had done well. It is strange how quickly people get hoodwinked again, but then football club loyalty is a strange commodity.
