This morning I was cleared by the prostate cancer consultant, I no longer have to attend his clinics, but due to the serious state I was in at the beginning I have to take the tests on an annual basis. Great news.for me. Some of you may remember 5 years ago when I first informed of my problem I told every one on here of my symptoms ie getting up for a pee during the night mainly, and I told people not to be afraid of the tests and the outcome because the earlier it is caught the better it is to treat. Admittedly I didn't have a lot of confidence in my own words initially but as time went on it grew. So there you are if you have this problem get it seen to its worth it.
Great news indeed charles. I was diagnosed with Prostrate cancer 10 years ago and took a surgical option which would have been denied to you because of your age. I remain clear today but still have an annual PSA test. Other cancer, mainly skin, still presents an ongoing problem but is manageable.
Great news and fully agree with the sentiment of your post. Unfortunately, my Dad was too proud to tell anyone about his problems until it was too late. By the time he did and was persuaded to do something about it, there was no option for surgery. Radiotherapy kept it at bay for a few years but eventually it spread elsewhere and he couldn't fight it any longer. He passed away at 71 but I'll always regret the fact that he didn't say something sooner, so we could have kept him for longer.
I was worried about this last year, it took ****ing ages to finish a piss off and if I rushed, I would dribble down my leg!! If I had a few pints there was a good chance of getting me socks wet on the way out of the bogs. The doc sent me to have my flow rate tested. Nothing wrong. So I sat in the room with a bucket of my piss in front of me, thinking , "what the ****!" The nurse told me I was holding my dick wrong!! I had plenty of flow, but I needed to keep everything straight, either that or I had to hold my bollocks up as well. She also asked me if I had changed anything in the underwear department. Well, as it happens, I had. For years I have worn y fronts. When I was a truck driver, boxer shorts always left something hanging and it isn't any fun trapping a knacker on the M25. So Y fronts held everything up and in place. My missus bought me some boxer trunks and I ditched the Y fronts. So if any of you feel embarrassed or worried about these things, don't be. If anyone see's a fat bloke in the North Stand taking ages to have a piss, it could be me. Just make sure I wash before shaking my hand. Two hands to have a piss, who would have thought it! Well done Charles.
The words 'all clear' must have sounded evert bit as sweet if not better than 'we've scored'... congratulations, now make sure you live every second Charles.
Really pleased for ya Charlie. With all the bad news this week it's good to hear some good news for a change.
Good stuff Charles, I've had the test myself as a loved one thought I that since I was getting up to pee during the night it wasn t normal. So I grit my teeth and experienced the infamous test. The doc told me that bladder emptying cycles are different for all men & that in my case I had no worries re prostrate. It's nice to know & worth manning up for..
