Here he comes, cap in hand, it's Mod Face the scrounging git.

I'm taking part in fundraising for Alzheimer's Research UK, a cause I feel most of us can relate to one way or another. So far I'm going to be walking from Blyth to Whitley Bay (and back) dressed as a giant rat and then in August from Bamburgh to Holy Island, problem is, I'm having trouble raising money.

Is there anyone with a bit of tech savvy who could help me? I know there are websites that offer a service to collect money that goes directly to the charity but the money I raise will have to paid in through my workplace.

Using traditional methods (cash in hand sponsor form) I have collected a 'grand' total of £25 so far as the majority of my friends have conveniently decided to ignore my texts asking for sponsors. If there was a way to set up an online method of payment beyond simply giving people my PayPal address it would be a massive help.

    Thanks in advance. <ok>

Sure I can sort something out for you.

Need a web address and also a merchant account. Got to 1&1.com and they have a template for this sort of site as well as merchant pay accounts.

Once in place I can optimise it for you and get links to the site based on keywords.

PM me to go through details.

Thing is, the money wouldn't be going directly to the charity, it has to be banked into our safe at work first then our total gets sent together.

So many good causes, so many people in need. Some of us just don't appreciate how lucky we are.

Give me the combination for the safe at work and I'll pop in tonight and leave something.

I checked out Just Giving but the issue is it needs to go THROUGH my workplace not direct. As AB says, I think it's probably best if I just give out the combination to the safe.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Mod Face again.

    Next time maybe.

Cheers GRB. I'm sure MF won't grumble about 11 rep power.

    **** me! <yikes>

Can't believe I let 1000 go without any occasion, I was going to have a party and everything. Ah well, here's to 2000! <ok>

Just noticed my rep power is 3, think GRB's bulky repping pushed me onto the next level.

Just gave you the rest AB was going to give you plus one or two more. :)
If you sort it out, I'll give you a donation at some point - be it paypal or something.
I still need to get my backside into gear for a fundraising drive for my GNR entry. My family & friends keep saying they'll donate closer to the time, but it's been a while so they're due for some pestering!

So MF, how much are you hoping to raise and what kind of donations are you hoping for from people on the board?

I don't want to be cheeky so anything is welcome. The average donation so far has been a fiver but really, anything would do.
