:emoticon-0103-cool:A message regarding off-topic threads from the Southampton Mods.

As we are now well into the summer and there is not of a lot of SFC news out there, our board in common with others, has had a lot of off-topic threads started. Many of these have been quite fun and well supported and we don't tend to get complaints about them.

There is a problem however with those threads which deal with obviously contentious issues to do with race, religion or politics. Interesting though these topics are, they really have no place on a football forum and have always been discouraged. They raise passions (and prejudices) and when the insults start to fly, then we do get complaints. Can we ask that all posters think carefully before posting a new thread, particularly when it has no connection to football, let alone Saints? We really dont want to have to close any threads, but any off-topic thread which leads to abusive exchanges and name-calling is very likely to be closed without notice. There are plenty of other places on the web to discuss these issues, and even to have a bad tempered rant if that's what you want to do. This isn't the place.

Obviously when the footy starts back up in earnest, we will all be (hopefully) too busy chattering about our triumphant return to the top flight and the top scalps we have taken to be worrying about non-footy stuff anyway.;)
