I recently joined the smartphone world and downloaded an app called unified remote. Best thing I ever did. I have my laptop attached to the tv like others do, the app lets me control everything on my laptop from my phone so I just typed this from my sofa with the forum on my tv. I can also control media player and vlc player open files and pretty much control my laptop with my phone.
have a look at plex. It's a media player and you point it to your download folder and it'll instantly sort all your episodes into series and episdoes. Also it then find all the series/episode artwork and summary data, adds their theme tune to their page and details about the film (quality etc). AND it comes with an app that acts as a remote, media browser (to then play on your computer) or play directly onto ipad or other laptop using your main computer as server. Phew..... [NSFW] [/NSFW]
like the file manager part. The rest sounds the same as this. This has seperate remote for vlc and media player as well as others and then a general connection so i can just type away like this from my sofa with the forum on my tv. So cool!
Nice i been looking for something like this since i have the same kinda setup as Luv(Laptop acting as the media centre).
