The last leg of the annual Caterham Festival was last night - a music concert held at The Chalet, the home of David Gold, the richest man in the town and co-owner of West Ham. He owns Ann Summers, whose office is a mile down the road, and the source of his unfeasible wealth. Anyway, he opens up his gaffe every year so he can gladhand us plebs and show off his wealth, and for nosey buggers like me it's always worth a look-see at how the other half live. The main point of interest, once you'd got past the landing strip for his plane, the private helicopter, and the three garages for his Roller, Bentley and Jags was the original FA Cup, which he bought a few years back to stop it leaving the country. It had pride of place on a pile of West Ham programmes in the window of his dining-room. He's a smug bastard for sure, but that's one thing he did right IMHO. Mind you, it would have looked more impressive if his dining table didn't have the full silver service in the background! Wonder how long it'll be before WHUFC starts to soak up all his cash.....?
It's how the other half live mate... Guess who lives here? Clue he's American please log in to view this image
Very nice. 55 acres of grounds with a golf course in the garden. One of the garages holds his Bentley and Rolls, and that alone was about the size of my house. House must be about 7-8 bedrooms, older style, country-type house. Obligatory fish pool with massive carp in the front bit where visitors come in. He's worth about £350M or thereabouts, which is an awful lot of dildos
Did Ellis buy his pile of Peter de Savary? If so I hope he counted his fingers after they shook hands on the deal.
