Captain, I've just read that the torch was being paraded in Bournemouth. Did the family go and cheer ??

Yeah, it passed almost the end of our road - a minute's walk from our front door, anyway. We strolled down with plenty of time, and got a decent spot at the front of the crowd. It turned out that, completely unintentionally, we were also right by one of the spots where the flame gets transferred from one runner to the next. Both of my boys got to be photographed with the 'new' torch holder while he was waiting for the 'old' one to get to us. It was great.

Afterwards, Blue Peter were doing one of their Olympic roadshows in a local park (also walking distance - next to AFC Bournemouth's ground), so me and my eldest mooched around there for a bit. The youngest was at a friends party, so he didn't mind that he missed that bit.

All in all, it was great, and something I think both boys will remember for years. Thanks for asking.
