Just seen Wigan have had a bid turned down for him. Kinda embarrassing when Wigan are going for better strikers than we are <doh>

Thoughts? Should we be bidding for these type of players? And why aren't we?

To be fair, Blackburn are "going for" players like Honda, Ronaldinho, Vucinic. Doesnt mean anything if you're just trying to appease fans.

And we did try for Gervinho and Gameiro in fairness.

True true. Still, would be nice to see us not resorting to desperate targets (Bendtner etc)

He's not within our age range.. and it's unlikely WB would ever really sell unless for a price that just wouldn't be worth paying.

Good player but wouldn't want him.

Waste of time by Wigan. I dont see why Odemwingie would leave West Brom for Wigan even if the bid was accepted?

Wigan can go for him all they like but they'll never stand a chance of it happening.

Odemwingie - 30 years old 93 goals in 309 appearances (mostly in weaker leagues)
Bendtner - 23 years old 58 goals in 204 appearances (mostly in premier league)

From a sell-on point of view, Odemwingie will not hold his value, Bendtner could be with us 5 years and STILL be sold at a profit. The Dane has proven himself to be a solid enough striker, a 1 in 3 kind of guy when he's playing. He wouldn't be the next Shearer but for a fair sum (nothing past £8m) he'd be a solid signing. Odemwingie would be a Berbatov of sorts, get one good season out of him then lose our transfer fee. MA wouldn't like that.

Yeah. His career history is Nigeria, Belgium, France, Russia then one season in England. He's been around and there's a risk he's a one season wonder. Bendtner on the other hand has been pretty consistant, generally hits double figures every season.

    Haha. Thanks for fixing that!

He's solid if unremarkable and one reason I REALLY want him here is because he's super deluded. He thinks he's God's gift and has a certain swagger about him (without being a thug too).

Wouldn't break the bank and I feel he could be for us what Bellamy was, a good second striker.
