The guardian are reporting it. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/dec/23/tim-sherwood-tottenham-hotspur-manager?CMP=twt_gu
He's been offered it til the end of the season, apparently. Would go with the stories about van Gaal taking over after the World Cup.
Rose has an unfortunate habit of opening his gob when he should keep schtum. I recall him aiming barbed comments at one of his teammates at the start of the 2012 season. Methinks he should do his talking on the pitch.......
So if this is the case, what's everyone's thoughts? The timing of AVB's sacking was about as bad as it could have been in terms of available quality long term managers and also the point at which it was in the season. Therefore, we don't have a lot of choice in our replacement right now. All I can say is best of luck to Tim, he's going to need it. It's a huge job for someone with no experience at this level, so I'm guessing Levy has written the season off in appointing him? Surely he's not got pressure on him to finish in the top 4? That'd be bloody ludicrous and unrealistic, as well as unfair. well done, Levy. Again, good luck, Tim.
Levy has ****ed up big time. How does this put us in a better position? Sherwood. I wouldn't put him in charge of a Division Four team.
Makes some vague sense if he's being installed as an interim manager. He's got more authority now than if he'd have just been given a 6 month deal. I doubt he's on massive money, so if it's not working out then Levy can just pay him off or offer him a new/old role and bring in whoever he's after. Not particularly happy about it, but it'll be interesting to see how it works out, especially if we keep playing attacking football.
He won't be here 18 months unless he surprises us all. Paying off the remaining 12 months of the contract in the summer is cheap by Levy standards
According to Spurcat he doesn't have a pro-license to manage in the PL. So how is that going work. Having said that I hope that Levy hasn't shot himself in the foot again.
Someone else will be used as a figurehead and Sherwood will have title other than Manager. One of our Europa League opponents were in the same position with an ex-Arsenal coach. Sheriff, I think?
looks good to me. we've got a vital run of fixtures coming up, plus a transfer window, and we needed a manager. if it doesnt work out at least he can say, 'well it was never really a full time appointment'. looks like he likes a passing game and some proper football. looking forward to it. good luck TS
Obviously an outsider here, but you get rid off 2 big names in Arry and AVB who spent over 200 million and appoint someone with no top level experience? #crazy
From the OS: Chairman, Daniel Levy, said: "We were extremely reluctant to make a change mid-season, but felt we had to do so in the Club's best interests. "We have a great squad and we owe them a Head Coach who will bring out the best in them and allow them to flourish and enjoy a strong, exciting finish to the season. "We are in the fortunate position of having within our Club a talented coach in Tim Sherwood. "We believe Tim has both the knowledge and the drive to take the squad forward." Chris Ramsey, Les Ferdinand and Steffen Freund complete the First Team Coaching set up. Who's in charge of the kids, then? Hoddle?
