I only posted this because I was watching FIFA Futbol Mundial (which covers world football) and there's a club in Argentina called Club Athletico Douglas Haig. After the World War I Field Marshal! EH?!

I know there's also Young Boys Bern and the very flattering Colon de Santa Fe, any others anybody knows of?

There's some come up on the bet in play sites from time to time that are just dates. Either when the club was formed or one was a revolution, I can't remember where though, I think it was the 15th of May, or something like that. can't find it on google though.

I've always been amused by Newell's Old Boys. It's their badge that does it.

There is a team in Norway called Odd Grenland. Although upon closer inspection, they seem pretty normal.

Closer to home, St Johnstone. Why are they not called Perth. Are there many one club places that have a team not called by the name of said place?

Another Scottish one is St Mirren from Paisley.
How about Port Vale, based in Burslem?

There's a few, Vauxhall Motors, based in Ellesmere Port. East Fife, while playing in the county of Fife, are based in Methil. Queen of the South are based in Dumfries.
