O'Conner has been let go and although alot on here will moan and winge its probably in the best interests for both parties.
I find this astonishing that nobody seems that bothered that we are letting one of our younger players go with out Jewell even giving the lad a chance.!
I'm sure he has had plenty of chance's to prove himself in the reserve's and in training and has fallen short so best of luck to him.
He had a good half season for us and I hope he finds himself a club but considering he is no longer a teen and couldnt find a place for himself in Port Vales squad then it suggests he was never going to make it at the level we would require
If he is snapped up by a big club i will eat my Beard thus proving that he is not rated that highly by many in football.
Maybe you are right, but this is the judgement of a manager who gave Colin Healey a new contract & then a few weeks later tore it up, Ingamarsson..? & the same manager who only a few weeks a ago was looking to sell Murray only to back track & offer him a new contract this week...!
not fussed about this tbh. decent player, but was never gonna get in ahead of Cresswell, Martin, JET, Carson and Murphy (well, maybe Murphy, but then so would I!) Just so happened to be the wrong time and the wrong club for him. hope he does well wherever he ends up.
http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=19947 âIâm really pleased for Ronan that heâs gone out and is playing football. Heâs a great lad, heâs had limited opportunities here and if he wants to go to Swindon and we can do something to make it happen, weâll give Paolo his wish.â said jewell....... Next..!
Thanks Hoppers Dont read TWTD as I think most of the stuff on there is sensationalist bullshite but its an interesting read. Its an interesting statement. The first paragraph says he hadnt looked at the offer and basically told Swindon not to make false claims and the second is the one you posted which makes his sale more likely. The only thing I can possibly make any sense from the whole statement is that we want him but if we wants to go elsewhere we wont stop him as hes not ready for the first team yet. Could of been a lot better phrased regardless
As much as I thought he looked good. Its clear that when Keane left he was unhappy about this and I think wanted away(from what I gather from insider knowledge)!! If he couldn't break into the Portvale squad I think that says alot!! I think we are pretty well covered down the left hand side atm. I'm encouraged by the fact he gave healy a new contract and then ripped it up gives me hope about Delaney. In all seriousness though I think if Norris and McAuley had signed contracts neither healy or delaney would have been offered one, it was a case of we didn't have many players, so wanting to at least tie some down if the summer transfer window didn't go to plan, perhaps for some continuity aswell.
potentially great player, but if Weighty's exceptional pun is the best thing that's come out of his time at Portman Road then I guess we can't lose too much sleep....
He would be in my first team wide left in front of Cresswell, Carson right with Hyam and Peters in the centre...
