a thread as suggested by smhbcfc, I'm sure we all have some "Obscure fact vaguely related to Bristol City" as Angelic's classic about Walshy's daughter and Fraiser. I'll kick off.... Did you know Gerry Gow works at Tesco on Portland doing the night shift?
I bet no-one knows that Alan Walsh's daughter is married to Kelsey Grammer of Cheers and Frasier fame ?
The attendance figures published is always smaller that the crowd actually looks inside. (It's historical) I wonder why ?
My dad could'nt get his car park ticket many years ago as,living here in Walesland before tinternet days, he had no idea you had to book them in advance via the postal service this particular season rather than the usual turn up and buy one routine. While having a nice old row with the girl on the desk, a certain Mr Jordan popped into the office, so my old man gave him the "we travel over the bridge every home game blah blah blah" to which our big jock manager said to the girl..."gi the man a tucket" where dad shook Joes hand and parted with "my" hard earned! Good on ya Joe!
good one Joe.... when I was a kid City played Man City in a friendly, to show how long ago it was they had Rodney Marsh playing for them... anyway he was subbed and the copper stood in the tunnel (I think his name was Jack Frost!) took my autograph book down to the changing room and got Rodney to sign it!
When I went to Barnsley away the missus and I stayed at the Brooklands Hotel - City stayed there on the Friday night I met Steve Brooker on his way to breakfast and wished him all the best - he injured himself in the morning light training warm-up and missed the game!!! PS - Saturday night at the Brooklands featured Chico (we gave that a wide berth!!)
In the early 70's, Steve Stacey (for those of you who don't know him, look it up on Wiki) lived next door to us in Highridge - but only for a short time!
I have done work in houses belonging to Louis Carey, Christian Riberio, Derek Mcinnes and best of all Ricky Chandler. I also had the hottest set of house keys in my van, in the UK for a few days when Tony Blair was prime minister and bought flats in Bristol..
Must have been at his shop on Gilda Parade then ? I worked next door as a Saturday job in Newman's Butchers. I got to know Norman well when he had the shop. Genuinely nice and down to earth guy
I went to school with David "Sid" Lawrence the English cricketer I was in a photo hanging up in the Dolman bar for years and years
