This lad looks a good prospect...

Newcastle United’s invasion of French football may continue in the summer according to Sky Sports with Bordeaux's attack minded midfielder Ludovic Obraniak wanting out of the French club and Magpies fans in the Football Transfer Tavern would love to see him in the Premier League.

Obraniak’s former Bordeaux team mate Yoan Gouffran joined Newcastle in January linking up with plenty of other Frenchmen such as Moussa Sissoko, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Mathieu Debuchy as Alan Pardew seems to have that area of the market covered.

French born Poland international Obraniak is set to leave Bordeaux in the summer as he has become increasingly frustrated with the board for selling their best players which showed in their 4-0 home humiliation by Lyon at the weekend.

Bordeaux are currently struggling to qualify for Europe next season and Obraniak feels his time at the club may be over if they do next heavily invest in the summer.

"When you lose key players without replacing them with those at the same level, it is difficult to achieve goals," Obraniak told Le Parisien.

"It is surprising and puzzling. I think that if you are in the top five and you lose a player then you should look to replace him.

"My future? It could lead to thoughts. The message is clear that the club want to reduce the wage bill, so we have to make choices."

The French revolution continues? How long before we can play a French starting XI?

I seem to remember Obraniak causing us more problems than gouffran in the games vs bordeux earlier this season. I don't mind who we get in the summer as long as the squad looks stronger.

Obraniak sounds a bit like Obertan but with an even bigger head.

Hope we can do better but to replace Gosling I'd say yes.
