Well chuffed he's back ... Best player song ever for that alone I welcome him with open arms and he can't do worse than Marvin in front of goal can he !
Why start another Obika thread? If we are going to duplicate threads, let's have a few more about whether or not we should have sacked Chris Powell. I don't think that has had a proper airing yet. I would like to read Vol and Typical's views on the matter.
Obvious answer no RD couldn't wait to sack him the cup defeat and going bottom gave him the chance. If we hadn't had a cup run and a crappy pitch causing a build up of games we'd be comfortably Midtable now I have no doubt of that. Prichard returning and sordell starting are decisions that the Powell out brigade would of got out of their trolleys about but Riga has done both. Powell got us up with record points got us to 9th in our first season back whilst spending sweet FA . He should never of been sacked so there you go Eddie !
Terrible right? Sacking a manager for leading the club to bottom of the league with awful football being played, whatever next? Good idea to find a new place for us to air our views eddie
Parky's name has started to crop up on 'ere recently. I think maybe there will shortly be a review on whether he should have been sacked.
as I said we had 4 /5 games in hand take 15 points off of Leicester they wouldn't be top ... False position so being bottom immaterial for me. As for awful football we played better v QPR and Birmingham than we did v Huddersfield
No offence, Mike, but your last two posts on this thread have been nothing short of madness. Do you honestly believe Powell could have won all four games in hand? If so, on what basis? When is a good time to sack a manager, if not when bottom of the league, playing dreadful football, and going out of the cup with a whimper? Powell was taking us down, no doubt, and he wrecked our dreams of a trip to Wembley. What have Leicester got to do with anything? They are where they are because they are a top side with a fine manager. The Huddersfield performance was a sign of things to come: decent football played on the ground. Riga will lead to us safety and the decision to sack CP will be more readily accepted.
I don't think he should have been, he would have got us out of that league with the Jenkinson money, I don't think it would have been as impressive as Chrissy did, but I wasn't too sure Parky should have been sacked. But as they say, the rest is history....
No offence Taken Ponders I'm am slightly off my trolley ! No evidence that we would of won the games in hand but just saying havin that mAny games in hand made the position false. Anyhow CP has gone one of our better managers of recent times BUT sadly he's gone. Re Parky I was against his sacking at the time and he ain't done badly since. BUT that's how it is we have to move on .
The major problem with Parky started when Murray offered him eight games to prove himself, and as I recall did'nt win one of them. However, my major gripe with the club is with the treatment recieved by Jimmy Seed. It's annoying that this thread has gone off topic, but let's at least keep it a bit relevant and discuss the greatest manager we've ever had. Personally, I think Seed just got tired of Volly and Typical attacking his team selections. Plus, while I'm off the subject, Theo Foley was'nt given the same sort of funding that we offered to Ian Dowie.
Too young for jimmy seed remember foley Bailey Mullery kraggs Lennie curbs/gritt Curbs Dowie Pardew Parky Powell and the not special one Curbs gotta be number 1 followed by Lennie and Powell the rest equally poor
So he's the best striker we have now then... because church is better than Sordell, and Reza isn't too impressive imo either, Church is a duracell bunny, will keep running and running and running, and cause trouble, just he couldn't score in a brothel. Obika is a welcomed addition but I don't like how some people on twitter etc are marking him as the savior, but if he proves me wrong be my guest
Agreed. Based on what we saw of him last season, Obika won't be a saviour for us. If he plays 15 games he may get 3-5 goals. He is better than Church though, he just needs a willing partner. How about Obika and Tudgay?
The only concern with Obika is the fact that we still are limp in midfield creativity. He will be found dropping deeper and with his back to goal if we don't get it forward quick enough. Though if we get him in the box he will score. COYR
Tudgay seems to have disappeared as quick as he appeared. I wonder what the story is there? He looked OK in his cameo.
