Thought he deserved a thread for his performance. While Evra's not what he used to be, I thought Gabby ran him ragged, his crossing was good too. Looking forward to more performances like this and Stoke from him, the lad may well prove his doubters - myself included - very wrong. His pace is becoming a very good outlet particularly in away games.

    Oh and there's always this....

that is ridiculous! haha. Glad to see pardew allowing the players to do things like that instead of just blasting them that i can imagine some managers doing

He's starting to prove me wrong too. When he signed I thought he was a waste of money but he has one thing you can't put a price on.... searing pace. It allows us to stretch the opposition offers a threat and a genuine out ball. He's still a bit raw but he's already improved a lot. His touch is good, now has some confidence and runs at the full back and his crossing has improved, and mentally his game has come on. His performance against stoke was brilliant, Pardew cleary had a role for him to play and he executed it perfectly, chased lost causes to get us higher up the pitch, tracked back, challenged in the air, and even provided a lovely assist!

I think he's the key to beating chelsea, they often leave their full backs exposed and thier full back push up, Cole isn't what he was (at least as a player he's still a *&^$) and Obertan can beat him for pace all day long.

  6. He's got immense pace and for that reason we should allow how to keep improving. Once he gets more confidence and starts to beat people more often, he'll be deadly.

<laugh> Did not see that during the match, great stuff from Obs.

From the youtube videos on him he looks like he has got great skill, it is just getting him confident enough to perform it and looking at that it appears he is getting there.

A few Man U fans were gutted about selling him for this reason, a run of games and he's coming into his own. In time, he'll be lethal in the league, especially if we can keep this core we have right now!

If I had tried that I think I would have broke both of my legs.

But epic skill that if not done properly he would have looked a laughing stock.

I know I'd have kicked the back of my leg instead, fallen face down on the grass and been in agony.

    How do I know?

I tried this about a year ago in the back garden with miniOT showing her all my football 'skills'. She ran inside and told my wife that 'Daddy hurt himself because he was stupid'.

All the summer signings have been excellent and are all starting to fire on all cylinders
and there were glimpses with Marveaux too. can't work out what's up with Santon though.
Has he got an attitude or discipline problem?

He's waiting for his chance because Pardew is unwilling to change that back 4.

I saw him do that but didn't notice it was like that, thought he just used his left foot. I'm starting to like him, he'l be infuriating at times but in the future looks like he might perform some moments of magic.

    Also he's fast as ****.

Don't think so, who would you take out of the back 4 on current form? Remember Ben Arfa only got a start because of Best's injury, he'll get his chance before long and no doubt when he does he'll be hungry to show why he should have been in the team the whole time.

could still be integrating into the squad, and adapting to the style of the prem. It's a big change for a 20yo who's never lived abroad before, in a club where no other players speak italian.

plus, the defence has been playing really well.
