I would have like him to stay as a role model and as club captain a good influence on the squad, could have moved to be a coach, and back end of last season was one of our best players.

plus if he went we only have 4 central midfielders

    thoughts?

Good luck to the guy. At the end of his career, hope he makes the right decision. Am sure Saints, direby and ourselves can all say that he gave what he could for our respective clubs. Good luck Matt and thanks

I'd actually be quite disapointed to see him go. A well respected figure among the dressing room and gives us experience as well. I still think he could do a job coming on with 15-20 minutes to go in tight games just as a cool head in midfield and to sure things up. But whether Matt would accept that role I'm not sure because he'll get more game time at Derby no doubt so it's all about whehter he would like to move at this late stage of his career.

Could it also indicate the signing of Hargreaves??

Wouldn't mind if he stayed, quality player to have on the bench and a cool head in midfield. But with new blood in he might feel that the sheep will give him more game-time so you can't argue with that

I still think Oakley has a part to play here. Towards then end of last season Abe got tired and his performances and then Oakley came in done well and scored 2 goals, he even signed a new contract. If Sven wants to sell him then i will back the decision and you couldnt blame Oakley if he does go back to Derby as he will get alot more games there

I don't think either Abe or Oakley are good enough for the first team, though both are decent bench players. If we lose Oakley we once again need another midfielder. So I'd prefer him to stay.

    This or something simular <ok>

Might be trying to keep the owners happy by keeping Abe at least on the bench.

I genuinely think Abe has potential, could be a top player in the future. Just my opinion

Isn't he in his late 20s?

I think he's a decent player, just not as good as Danns, Wellens or King.

Didn't know he was 29, thought he was closer to 23 for some reason! Maybe not much room for improvement then

Has a clear role in the team in that he is more of an anchor man. Agree though not as Danns, Wellens or King.

I think next season will probaly be Abe best, he would of had a year to learn the divison and country and he is at the right age in his career where he will reach his peak
