With the Premiere of the Bond Film Skyfall, it occurred to me that my fist ever trip to the cinema ("the Pictures" we called it) as a young boy was The Man With The Golden Gun starring Rodger Moore as 007.

What was the first film you were taken to see?

I think it was the Lion King, I'm not sure. I can't remember anything earlier.

Mine was "The Jungle Book" at North End Odeon.......Drove past it the other day and its been turned into a pound shop - shame!

Infact, "the pictures" don't exist anymore - Cosham and Commercial Road ABC/Carltons have now gone too.....the old cinema in Albert Road is now a big Co-op too....

Sigh.....off to Vue to watch skyfall then.....will be taking food with me so i don't get fleeced.

Believe from memory it was one of the 'Carry On' films - quite apt really, bearing in mind the recent goings on at Fratton Park <laugh>

I remember my old man taking me to see "Live and let Die" ...I'm not sure if that was before I saw Disney's "The Aristocats", I can also remember "The Jungle Book", but that must've been a reshowing as it was made in 1967 and I watched it in the early 70's

I remember the Jungle Book being the film of choice if you wanted to take a girl to the pictures - everyone had seen it before so you could just get down to business in the back row. <hug> :emoticon-0109-kiss: :emoticon-0165-muscle:

It's a Mad, mad, mad, mad, world, probably because my aged P wanted to see it and couldn't get a sitter. I didn't have a clue what was going on.

I love the film now of course.

North end Odeon is now a mini Sainsburys Mike, you may be interested to know.
