http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17886208 Apparently a Hamilton Academical player is ready to make his first team debut at the age of 13. Also in the reserve game he appeared in was a 14 year old winger. Does they say more about the quality of the Scottish First Division, or the quality of the players? Hamilton do have a history of bringing through youth, with James McArthur and James McArthy coming through in recent years and becoming PL players with Wigan.
Heh I was expecting a piccy of that **** Traabaat (or whatever his name is) spitting his dummy when they played us. Will that ****er being playing for them next season when they're back in the same league as us do you think??
If they're sticking a 13 year old in the first team it'll be because there's a bigger club after them and they're trying to bump up the compensation. Without looking into it properly the young kids in the reserves will be more to do with the SPL not having a reserves league, and just having an U19s league. I know Hamilton are D1 now, but last season they were SPL so would only have a had a youth team setup. They'll also have been hoping to return straight away, or at least in the near future so will have just used their youth team as their reserves and thrown the odd player down for game time rather than completely overhauling the system only to have to reverse the changes a year or two later.
