Which English club could boast the best five strikers since 1980 (probably a period most posters are familiar with)? Allowing for the club where the player spent the most time to claim him.

For starters Arsenal have had; Alan Smith, Ian Wright, Bergkamp, Henry and RVP.

Stoke City have had Ade Akinbiyi and Jon Parkin in the last decade. Game over.

Liverpool: Rush, Dalglish, Fowler, Owen and someone else. Can I have Suarez?

Man Utd: Cantona, Rooney, Hughes, Van Nistelrooy and Ronaldo

You could have Torres. Maybe Andy Cole too for Man Utd

Torres was at Atletico for much longer than at Liverpool.

Suarez has only been at Ajax for a season more than Liverpool. Which is why I picked him as it is closer.

How about most goals in a season since then? Clive Allen for Spurs in 1987?

I know the thread is about strikers at English clubs since 1980 but how about this for a list of strikers that have played at Athletico Madrid in just the last few years!

Costa (top scorer currently in Spain)
    Forlan
    Torres
    Falcao
    Villa
    Aguero

    Newcastle haven't done bad:

Kevin Keegan (I know he played more for Liverpool)
Andy Cole (I know he played more for Man U. but he was better at NUFC)
    Faustino Asprilla
Alan Shearer (I know he probably played more for Blackburn)
    Mark Viduka

Man U or Liverpool. And that's in world football. But not since 1980, since the 90s. I was dead in the 80s.

    For Everton you could include;

Sharp, Heath, Gray, Ferguson, Lineker, Lukaku, Rooney and Cottee

For a Top 5 Lineker, Rooney, Lukaku, Cottee and Ferguson although there are reasons to leave several of that 5 out

Solskjaer scored more goals than you might think for MUFC.

Aldridge, although he scored a few was an inferior version of Rush - that was the Rush pre Juventus

To the Liverpool list you could add Fowler to the list of 5, maybe at the expense of Torres? Also Beardsley too
