James mclean death threats due to religion as it yet again causes conflict. I'm not really religious but my favourite religion is Buddhism, I like the humilty and kindness to all animals aspect and having few possessions and not wearing fancy clothes. The christians always seem to be in fighting or out fighting and vicars/priests always seem to be fat bastards who ignore that gluttony is a sin. The muslims, sikhs et cetera always fighting as well. I am sure all these texts of religions preach peace yet only the buddhists never seem to go to war. Finally, if there was a bloke called jesus he wouldn't want to come back and see crosses all over the place would he? He would think the christians were taking the piss. '**** it dad if i'm going back get me that al qaeda application form'.

Any religion is just a route to approach God. If you don't believe in God, you've no need for religion. But the point of all the major religions is basically to be nice to your fellow human beings, which is entirely laudable. The problem is that religion is practised by people who **** it up into something it was never intended to be. I don't know who said it, but it's true. God is OK by me, it's his fan club I can't stand...

I'm a Catholic, generally the people that **** up religion would have found something else to **** up anyway. People say that religion is the cause of the deaths of loads of people, it isn't, it's the abuse of religion that causes these tragedies.

Well I'll tell you bonny lad.

That Jacky Ickx twat can freely spout his love for all things Irish Republican.

So going on that theory I can spout my support for all the Ulster Loyalists.

I know the Creggan & Bogside & the only ****ers throwing stones & petrol bombs at me were catholics.

My Janie was a catholic but despised what it stood for.

I hate all religeions as they are the biggest con ever.

    All of them are toss.

My god is my heart, my psychic thoughts are through my spirit and my spirit is shared through my partner and daughter. If there is some big mythical thing poking it's head through a blackhole and watching us that claims to be god, then I ask why when you wrapped the umbilical cord around my partners neck for 8 seconds whilst she was being born and took away the simplicities of life, you then decided to finish the job and totally immobilise her after she gave birth?

    Latter day crap..

I detest religion, it's all a load of bollocks and generally lead by perverts.

Never been christened or to church in my life apart from weddings and funerals.

I hate it that much, I refused to go to my own daughters christening which was arranged by the ex and her family, not 1 of them believe in God themselves or go to church so I refused to be a hipocrite by going. Still to this day it eats me up that my little girl got christened, but whatever.

Fcking hell, seems to have illustrated the hatred involved in religion. The message of piece and humility is totally missed for some reason. On a more positive note I always meet nice people walking thru the woods , it's as if they are in a 'different place' in their minds away from the man made bullshit. The bullshit of shopping centres, cars, roads, jewellery, tattoos and dare i say it sky sports.

I think you have read that the wrong way Billy, I don't think he meant it like that.

It was more of an astonishment comment, I think.

I can understand why people don't believe in a God, but do they have to go as far as to say that they 'detest' religion in general? The core elements of religion are generally sound, the Golden Rule of Ethics (do unto others as you would have them do unto you) should be (and generally is) the cornerstone of any fully-functioning society. I don't detest atheists because they don't believe in a God, that's a personal decision.
