This is so ridiculous it made me laugh and thought i would share http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-31110113
Yeah I did that earlier, unbelievable isn't it! I thought that I did ok with my salary until I realised Ronaldo earns what in a week in less than half an hour I don't actually mind that the very best, elite players such as Ronaldo earns crazy money, there are more than three billion men on the planet, and people such as he, Messi, Suarez etc are the very best out of all of us in a highly competitive industry. It's when you realise people like Danny Welbeck earn more than 100k a week that starts to piss me off. Isn't Tom Cleverley on my 70k or something?
When you consider that there is a whopping transfer fee on top of it as well it's just complete bonkers. Makes a complete mockery of FFP.
Heard on the radio today that bids are now being put in for the next PL TV deal starting 2016. It is thought that the tabled bids will be SIX TIMES greater than last time meaning that broadcasters will be paying £8M per game ! After 'dipping their toes in the water' last time around BT are bound to weigh in with a mega bid and for the first time the majority of games could well switch to a new broadcaster. They could certainly easily afford to outbid Sky, question is will they ? Interesting times and those of us who currently watch PL football for free with our Broadband subscription may soon be asked to cough up serious money BT have already secured exclusive Champions League and Europa League football from next season so it seems that Sky have real competition at last, which let's be honest, can only be good for us as consumers I suppose.
I really am not sure about this KIO. We have dissed ITV on here previously as their commentators are not that great and they famously managed to miss the goal in the F A Cup for Liverpool but for me the introduction of BT is not helpful. I am not keen on watching games on a computer screen and their sponsorship money comes from their punters who are overplaying for the basic services. Free to view through ITV is a much cleaner proposition. On this topic, I am also irked that the BBC in it's infinite wisdom has decided to abandon another sporting jewel and from 2016 will not cover The Open in live format. When you look at it just what do they actually cover now? I really am considering for the first time in my life starting a campaign to remove the licence fee as the value most people get now is lost. Look at the schedules and they are full of antique sh*t, people moving house and doing them up, or moving abroad, reality shows with police cars, helicopters or some other drivel, food programmes (for a nation that buys so much pre-cooked food including vegetables) and then 'talent' shows like The Voice where you wait for umpteen seconds to see who has been voted off. All of this and no Open!! God I hate them.
Sadly I don't think your comment is ironic oldcanariesfan, it is probably just the truth. It certainly has nothing to do with fairness.
football as we know it will kill itself with the greed! Part of me now wish the fat cats like Man Utd, Chelski, Man Citeh **** off to their European league and hopefully a sense of reality will be restored for the other clubs.
Top footballers deserve every penny they get- it would take Ronaldo less than 90 minutes to earn the weekly salary of a top cardiac surgeon- the lad deserves it without question- only 22 minutes to earn that of a top grade nurse- ****ing hell it makes me weep
Do you know I have read your comment several times Longsight and cannot make out if you are taking the p*ss or not. I hope you are but it is not as clear as you may have thought. Top players wages are totally out of any proportion and are wholly indefensable.
Surely the phrase ****ing hell it makes me weep is pretty ckear. Followed by highlighting the clubs don't pay staff a living wage - should actually petition Ncfc if they dont
TBH Thurnby I have BT and I can only speak from personal experience but I would certainly recommend it, I've always found them to be helpful and extremely professional. After a one-off £50 payment for a Vision+ box for £56.67 per month thereafter I get landline, anytime free calls, unlimited Infinity super fast broadband, free BTWiFi-with-FON and a TV package that includes, BTSport1 HD, BTSport2 HD, ESPN HD, Eurosport1 HD, Eurosport 2 HD, many Sky channels again both in SD and HD, access to many HD online catch up players is included and then if I wish I can pay for movies and series boxsets on demand and even download movies to keep for a small charge. Am I paying too much ? I've always considered it to be a cracking deal
You say that and yet you have said that "Top footballers deserve every penny they get" and "The lad deserves it without question". Now for irony either of those statements would be making a point but to make both comments did cause me to ask. Your irony and disgust were equally shared and hence my questioning.
Fair comment KIO and what you have outlined does sound like a reasonable package. Like I said though, I don't like staring at a computer screen all day and prefer the telly for football.
The Vision+ box is connected to your home hub (preferably by ethernet cable but wireless is fine), aerial and TV. It has a freeview tuner (aerial) and HD channels and 'Sky' channels are streamed from the internet onto your TV screen in 1080i, you can watch the sports channels on your laptop if you so wish but I rarely if ever do
