It is a fair point. As we are all guilty of it I trust this will happen multiple times a day from now on.
300 threads a day, each with one post. It's the future. To be fair, I've thought about it on a few that drift off. I do try to keep topics on track when it's a specific point, but general chit chat can often end up the most interesting. It's a juggle to try to accommodate awl* types. *back on topic.
This board has become a joke. Just leave things where they are. Every single thread gets derailed at some point due to a cheeky post or the way the conversation goes. It's just how it is. So why do some get moved and who gets to decide? Moving posts around just makes even more bullshit fly around the board and things stop making sense. If I don't want to read a thread I'll avoid it, but this way I have to avoid multiple threads.
Quite often, the originator of a thread will contact us to ask for the thread to be kept on topic. Other people complain about their discussions being interrupted. It's a case of trying to accommodate as many people as possible. Leaving it as a free for all makes it a lot, lot worse. The board generally is just too busy for that. It only takes manners and common sense to see which threads are just chit chat and fair game (such as this) and which have a specific topic and a slightly more serious nature. Some self control and manners from posters would mean less threads moved. We don't post the disruptions....well apart from this thread...and some others...
Tool time you say? Couldn't agree more...
