Watch him go: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19197036 How fast can you text? Do you do it without looking? How skilled are you? What phones have you found to be a nightmare to text with?
Presumably because he could have called the person on the phone and just talked..? I always work on the principle that meeting up with someone is the desirable ideal. If time, distance and circumstances don't permit that, then phoning is a good way to communicate, or email if it isn't as important to talk, but you want to get the important data through. If you haven't corresponded in ages, and you know the actual address, but not the email, then perhaps dear old post is the way to go. Occasionally, just occasionally, I'll use texting via the mobile, especially if it's not important or I'm not expecting an immediate answer, or the person I'm texting on the other end thinks it's god's way to communicate [thankfully, that's rare]. Then there's ****ing Facebook or Twitter. This evening I was drawn to the fact that one of my brothers is on Facebook. What a pack of crap did I find there. I almost opened an account to denounce the rubbish that he had spurted for the past two or three years. Frankly, I was appalled. I won't be going back, and that episode has put me off that kind of social network almost entirely. I know we can talk to the other side of the World. I exchange banter with others in various parts, including my ex-wife in NZ occasionally, but I'm looking forward to meeting up again. Nothing can replace that, and as far as winning $50,000 for texting..? That's a bloody joke. Just shows how easily it is to make money out of twerps who do it all the time.
