http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...an-Clough--best-quotes-anniversary-death.html Some great quotes among that lot.
Clough to Motson on the growing amount of pointless analysis by 'experts' on the tele: "In a nutshell, I suggest you all shut-up and show more football" If only they had listened to the master then before it got to the ridiculous stage of over-analysis we are at now!
"I'm not saying he's pale and thin, but the maid in our hotel room pulled back the sheets and remade the bed without realising he was still in it." - Referring to former Forest player Brian Rice. ****ing brilliant.
If you like Cloughie i can recommend the book, Nobody ever says thank you by Jonathon Wilson. Really gets into his psyche. A lot of his over confidence came about through the need to over compensate crippling self doubt. He failed his eleven plus and never got over the fact. Even in his 60's he still made a dig about his brother-who may have his eleven plus but hasnt got two European Cups on the mantelpiece!! Anyway great quote in the book after returning from a European game in grim Bulgarian city, i think, he was asked what he thought of the city he had just played in "It was like Middlesborough but with out the glamour".
the man was a genius and way ahead of his time. i just wonder what he would have made of today's footballers in Britain. There's some great clips on you tube from the Daily Mail links
